Study, study, study
  • High school students have homework every night.
  • Even though something may not be due the next
    day, most classes have ongoing work that
    translates into culminating projects.
  • More long term assignments.
  • Daily exposure is essential.
  • At least read and review notes.

Ask questions!
  • Be involved in your childs education. Even is
    he/she doesnt want you to.
  • Ask questions when you dont understand!
  • Use office hours for extra help, makeups
  • Office hours every block day (Wed/Thurs)
  • From 715-745
  • Many teachers are in their
  • classrooms each morning
  • to help students.

Get involved!
  • Encourage your student to listen to the daily
    bulletin for ways to become involved in school.
  • Go to our website rev.redlandsusd.net
  • For bulletins, activities calendars, bell
    schedules, Principals blog, link to teachers
    e-mails, etc.

Get your student to school on time every day
  • Poor attendance is the fastest way to fail a
    class!
  • Valuable instruction is lost every time your
    student is absent. Plan family outings,
    vacations, etc on non-school days.
  • If your student says, Were not doing anything
    today, he/shes probably misinformed or being
    disingenuous ?!

Encourage you student to be a good citizen
  • Seek help/advice with peer problems (teachers,
    counselor, Security, administrators, etc.).
  • Review the right things to do with your
    student. High schoolers need moral/value
    guidance as well.
  • Emphasize that high school requires a higher
    level of maturity.
  • Emphasize Poor gradeslost unitslost
    opportunities/choices.

Come to someone when there is a problem
  • Teachers-classroom issues.
  • Counselors-scheduling/grades/class concerns.
  • Administrators-discipline/attendance/teacher
    concerns.
  • Our doors are always open to students and
    parents.
  • If your student tells you
  • something of concern,
  • report it. Confidentiality will
  • be ensured.

  • Open House
  • CAHSEE parent night
  • Career Center Open House
  • Concerts, plays
  • Athletic contests
  • PTSA meetings
  • Booster clubs
  • Volunteer!! Yes, even in high school

  • Summer mailer (middle of July)-go through it in
    detail!
  • Agenda-help your student learn to use it or some
    sort of calendar!!
  • Read and keep the Curriculum Papers that come
    home the first week of school.
