Army Disaster Personnel Accountability and
Assessment System
Senior Spouse Meeting
FOR OFFICIAL USE ONLY
51Agenda
- General Information
- Why Needed
- Objective
- Family Member/Soldier Actions
- USARPAC Exercise
- Lessons Learned
- DEERS Update
- Conclusion
-
52General
- Army Disaster Personnel Accountability and
Assessment System (ADPAAS) is a web-based,
user-friendly system that enables the Army to
report accountability of personnel and families
after catastrophes/ emergencies.
53Why Needed?
- ADPAAS was built based on a directive from the
DoD to address the personnel accountability
issues that all the Services experienced during
Hurricane Katrina. After the hurricane hit, the
Services realized it had no procedures in place
to gain and maintain accountability of personnel
and their family members. The ADPAAS is the
Army's way of accounting for personnel and
families after catastrophes/emergencies.
54ADPAAS Objective
- The objective of ADPAAS is to provide information
on the status of Army personnel affected by a
disaster so decisions for delivering emergency
assistance and the prioritization of recovery
efforts and resources can be focused on the
recovery and return to stability of the Force.
55Family Member/Soldier Actions
- All Soldiers, civilians, family members and
overseas defense contractors must report their
status and whereabouts following any natural
/man-made disaster, if directed to do so by the
Secretary of Defense. - Report using the internet (https//adpaas.army.mil
/) or calling the toll-free Army Information
Hotline number (1-800-833-6622).
56ADPAAS Exercise
- Department of the Army conducted an exercise on
18-22 Jun 09 to test ADPAAS in U.S. Army,
Pacific. - USARPAC completed 100 percent accountability of
all personnel in 36 hours, exceeding the goal of
attaining 97 percent accountability within 72
hours of notification.
57Lesson Learned
- Greatest lesson learned from exercise is majority
of Soldiers and their family members
information in Defense Enrollment Eligibility
Reporting System (DEERS) is outdated.
58DEERS Update
- Is your information current? Check it out at
https//adpaas.army.mil/. - Soldiers can now update their information in
DEERS on line at https//www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/add
ress/indexAction.do
59Conclusion
- As a reminder ADPAAS enables the Army to
account for personnel and families after
catastrophes/emergencies and aids in decisions
for delivery of emergency assistance and the
prioritization of recovery efforts.
