Research Project
  • After thousands of hours of scientific study, we
have determined that The Shroud of Turin contains
a surface anomaly in the shape and form of a
crucified man created by some process of
    undetermined origin!

16
  • What can we learn from the Shroud of Turin?

Matthew 2750-54
  • Then Jesus shouted with a loud voice, and he
died. 51 At that very moment the curtain in the
Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

19
Matthew 2750-54
  • There was also a great earthquake, and the rocks
split apart, 52 and many tombs were opened. The
bodies of many godly men and women who had died
    were raised from the dead.

20
Matthew 2750-54
  • 53They left the cemeteries where their bodies
had been buried, and went into the holy city of
Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.

21
Matthew 2750-54
  • 54 The Roman officer and the other soldiers at
the crucifixion were terrified by the earthquake
and all that had happened. They said, Truly,
this man was the Son of God!

Matthew 2752-53
  • 52 Many tombs were opened. The bodies of many
godly men and women who had died were raised from
    the dead.

24
Matthew 2752-53
  • 53They left the cemeteries where their bodies
had been buried, and went into the holy city of
Jerusalem, and appeared to many people.

25
  • Doesnt it seem like a bunch of open graves would
    attract a little more attention?

26
Matthew 2812-15
  • A meeting of all the religious leaders was
called, and they decided to bribe the soldiers.
13They told the soldiers, "You must say, Jesus'
disciples came during the night while we were
sleeping, and they stole his body.'

27
Matthew 2812-15
  • 14If the governor hears about it, we'll stand up
for you and everything will be all right." 15So
the guards accepted the bribe and said what they
were told to say. Their story spread widely among
the Jews, and they still tell it today.

28
Nicodemas was a member of the Jewish High
Council!
  • He became a secret follower of Christ, and later
risk his life to defend Christ at his trial
before the High Priest, the Jewish Council and
    Pilate!

29
The Gospel of NicodemasLost Books of the Bible
  • Nicodemus BELIEVED that Jesus would rise from the
dead, and carefully recorded all the events
surrounding Jesus death and resurrection in a
    book!

30
The Gospel of NicodemasLost Books of the Bible
  • When Jesus body was found to be missing, the
    Jewish Officials immediately suspected that
Joseph of Aramathea had taken it, and they had
    him arrested, awaiting execution!

31
The Gospel of NicodemasLost Books of the Bible
  • But the resurrected Lord appeared to Joseph that
night, thanked him for his kindness to him, and
took him by the hand, transporting him out of the
sealed dungeon in Caiaphas house to his own home
    in Aramathea!

32
The Gospel of NicodemasLost Books of the Bible
  • Latter, two of the resurrected saints (the sons
of Simeon the priest) went to Josephs house, and
stayed with him for several days, explaining what
had happened in the underworld when Christ
    descended and set them free!

Christs Descent Into Hell
34
The Gospel of NicodemasLost Books of the Bible
  • Christs Descent Into Hell

35
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Then, behold Satan the prince and chief of death
said unto Hell Make thyself ready to receive
Jesus who boasted that he was the Son of God,
though he was only a man that feared death, and
cried out saying My soul is sorrowful even unto
death.
36
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Hell answered and said to Satan the prince Who
is he that is so mighty, if he be a man that
fears death? For all the mighty ones of the earth
are held in subjection by my power, even those
who you have brought me subdued, which you
subdued by your power. If you are so mighty,
though, what manner of man is this Jesus who,
though you say he fears death, has so resisted
your power?
37
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
If he be so mighty in his humanity, how powerful
might he prove to be if he is truly the Son of
God, as he has said? If this be true then no one
can withstand his power. And when he said that he
feared death, perhaps he sought to ensnare you
and if so, then woe be unto thee for everlasting
ages!
38
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
But Satan the prince of Tartarus said Why do
you doubt me and fear to receive this Jesus into
your hold, which is your adversary as much as
mine? For I tempted him, and stirred up the Jews
with envy and wrath against him.
39
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
I have also sharpened a spear to thrust him
through, and given him gall and vinegar to drink
and I prepared a cross to crucify him and nails
to pierce him and his death is now very near at
hand, that I may bring him to you to be subject
here to you and me forever!
40
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Hell answered and said You have told me that it
is this Jesus that has taken away dead men from
me already. For there be many which while they
lived on the earth have taken dead men from me,
yet not by their own power, but by prayer to God,
and the almighty God has taken them from me.
41
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Who is this Jesus, though, who, by his own word
and without prayer to the Almighty, has taken
dead men away from me?
42
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Was it not this Jesus which by the word of his
command restored to life Lazarus, whose body was
four days dead and stank and was corrupt, and who
I held here dead? And Satan, the prince of
death, answered Yes, that same Jesus.
43
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
When Hell heard that, he said to Satan I adjure
you by all your strength and mine also, that you
do not bring him here to me! For I well remember
when I heard his command, and I did quake and was
overwhelmed with fear, and all those who serve
with me were greatly troubled!
44
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Neither could we keep Lazarus here, but he rose
like an eagle shaking himself, and leaped forth
from our hold with all agility and swiftness, and
escaped from us and the earth also which held
the dead body of Lazarus immediately gave him up
alive!
45
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
And I know that the man which was able to do
these things is a God, strong and mighty, and
that he is the savior of mankind!
46
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
If you bring him here to me he will set free all
those that are here held captive in my prison and
bound in the chains of their sins that cannot
otherwise be broken! But he will bring them
into the life of his godliness for ever!
47
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
And as Satan the prince of death, and Hell, spoke
together, suddenly there came a voice as of
thunder and a spiritual cry, saying Remove, O
princes, your gates, and be lifted up, you
everlasting doors, and the King of glory shall
come in.
48
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
When Hell heard that he said to Satan the prince
Depart from me and go out of my abode if you be
such a mighty man of war, then you fight against
this King of glory! And Hell cast Satan forth
out of his dwelling.
49
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Then said Hell to his wicked servants Shut fast
the gates of brass and put on them the bars of
iron and resist with all your strength, lest we
that have been the captors are ourselves to be
taken captive!
50
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
But when all the multitude of the saints heard
it, they spoke out loudly and began themselves to
rebuke Hell, saying, Open your gates, Hell, so
that the King of glory may come in!
51
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
When Hell and death and their wicked ministers
saw that, they were stricken with fear, they and
their cruel officers, at the sight of the
brightness of so great light in their own realm,
seeing Christ appear sudden in their abode!
52
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
And they cried out, saying We are overcome by
you! Who are you that are sent by the Lord for
our confusion? Who are you that comes unto us
without any damage of corruption, and with the
signs of such majesty?
53
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Who are you, who are without blemish, and have
come in such great wrath to condemn our power?
54
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Who are you that are so great and yet so small,
both humble and exalted, both soldier and
Commander, a marvelous warrior in the form of a
servant, and a King of glory, once dead and now
living, though you were slain upon the cross?
55
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
You that did lie dead in the sepulcher have now
come down unto us alive again And at your death
all creation quaked, and all the stars were
shaken and you have now become free among the
dead, and have come to conquer our legions!
56
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Who are you that sets free the prisoners that
are held bound by original sin and restores them
into their former liberty? Who are you that sheds
your divine and bright light upon them that were
blinded with the darkness of their sins?
57
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Who are you that so fearlessly enters our
borders, and not only fears none of our torments,
but besides that has come to deliver all men out
of our bondage?
58
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
We know that you are that same Jesus, of whom
Satan our prince feared that by your death on the
cross you would gain back dominion of the whole
world!
59
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Then did the King of glory in his majesty trample
upon Death, and laid hold on Satan and delivered
him into the power of Hell and drew Adam and his
sons unto himself and unto the glory of his
brightness!
60
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Then Hell, turning to Satan the prince, with sore
reproach said to him O prince of perdition and
chief of destruction, Beelzebub, the scorn of the
angels and contempt of the righteous why would
you do this to us?
61
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
You crucified the King of glory and at his
decease you promised us great spoils of his
death! What a fool you are, for you knew not
what you had done to us!
62
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Behold now, this Jesus has put to flight all the
darkness of death by the brightness of his
majesty , and has broken into the strongholds of
our prisons, and let out the prisoners and loosed
all them that were bound!
63
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
And now all those that were sighing in our
torments do rejoice against us, and at their
prayers our dominions are vanquished and our
realms are now conquered!
64
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Now no nation of men need fear us any more. And
beside this, the dead, which before had no
confidence against us, now have triumph over us,
and the captives which never could be joyful do
now threaten us!
65
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
O prince Satan, father of all the wicked and
ungodly and renegades, why would you do such a
thing as this to us?
66
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
O prince Satan, holder of the keys of hell, all
those riches which you had gained by the tree of
transgression and the losing of paradise, you
have now lost by the tree of the cross!
67
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
When you crucified Christ Jesus the King of
glory you wrought this great ruin against
yourself and against me forever!
68
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Why did you ever bring into our realm the
Innocent and Righteous One, that He might lose
the guilty and the ungodly and unrighteous of the
whole world?
69
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
Then the Lord stretched forth his hand, and said
Come unto me, all you my saints which bear my
image and my likeness! You that by the tree and
the devil and death were condemned to death...
70
The Gospel of NicodemasChrists Descent Into
Hell
For behold now, the devil and death are
condemned by the tree of the cross! And
immediately all the saints were gathered together
by the hand of the Lord, and were delivered up
out of Death and Hell.
