- In 1911 King Edward VII agreed to the
introduction of the KSA and invited KSs to
Windsor for a Royal Review each year.

7WHAT NEEDS TO BE ACHIEVED?
MEMBERSHIP Be aged between 16 and 25 years
old and have been a member of Explorer
Scouts or the Scout Network or both for at least
18 months (this can include time
counted for the Chief Scouts Platinum or
Diamond Awards).
8WHAT NEEDS TO BE ACHIEVED?
Nights Away Complete 18 nights away as an
Explorer Scout or member of the Scout Network, of
which 12 must be camping (this may include nights
counted for the Chief Scouts Platinum or Diamond
Awards). See the Additional Information
section for more information.
9WHAT NEEDS TO BE ACHIEVED?
International, Environmental, Values
List Complete 2 activities from the list of
International, Environment and Values activities
(these should be different activities from the
Chief Scouts Platinum and Diamond Awards and
from two different areas). The list of activities
can be found in the handout.
10WHAT NEEDS TO BE ACHIEVED?
Challenges Hold a Gold Duke of Edinburghs Award,
OR complete the 5 Queens Scout Award

11WHAT NEEDS TO BE ACHIEVED?
Presentation Make a presentation, to a suitable
audience, of your achievements in working towards
the Queens Scout Award.

- Request for a Certificate

- Interview
- Carried out by the DESC or DC for Explorers ACC
Network or CC for Network - This is not a validation exercise (particular
with Network members Trust) more of getting to
know this special person - Gives member opportunity to tell you what they
have done and what they have gained - Guidance can be found in the Leader Leaflet

- Signed Certification Application Form is sent to
The QSA Coordinator - The Scout Association
- Gilwell Park

- Usually takes 7 working days to be returned to
the County QSA Coordinator
15Presentation (National)
- If the Queen Scout has opted for a National
Presentation, the Certificate is held by HQs and
the QSA badge is sent to the County QSA
Coordinator for Local presentation - National Presentations are held up to 2 a year,
usually at a prestigious place

- The QSA Coordinator will contact the Queen Scout
direct by letter, congratulating them and
inviting a few suitable dates and venue. - The DESC/DC or ACC Network are copied in
- Dates are checked with the CC Diary Date and
venue agreed with CC and Queen Scout. - Badge (Only if National Presentation Opted for)
and Certificate (latter framed) brought to
presentation
18Presentation (Local)
- Down to the Queen Scout as to where and when and
in what format - It should be something that is befitting the
Award as such, no certificates or badges are
posted onwards - A simple buffet and non alcoholic drinks helps
after the presentation (This may be different for
Network members) - Invitees, again up to the Queen Scout, usually
section members, Leaders who have helped them
through the award, Parents and Family (local
dignitary/press)
