  • Two Hands! Smother ball with throwing hand as it
    enters the mitt (Fielding Disks force this
    technique)
  • One fluid motion as you pull the ball towards
    your right hippreparing for a good throw
  • Station 1 Situations

  • Use small, light bat
  • RELAX.(arms, legs and hands) you cant hit the
    ball if youre tense
  • Feet side by side... shoulder-width apart
    knees slightly bentweight slightly back
  • Stay on balls of your feet Should see daylight
    under your heels
  • Stand slightly towards rear of plate/tee - make
    contact with ball out in front of plate
  • Grip bat firmly in fingers (not the palms)
  • Line-up theknocking knuckles
  • Hands back in towards the body..about even with
    the arm pit
  • Bat position 45 degree angle with barrel leaning
    over shoulder.
  • Players swing on Coachs Command BALL!
  • Advanced Hitters Work on Load
    Explode!Shifting the hands and hips slightly
    back as you test the ice and prepare to unload
    hitting it HARD on the button
  • Station 5 Hitting Whiffle Balls
  • Find the ball early. Watch it all the way in.
    Eyes glued to the Baseball!
  • Test the Ice - Stride slightly forward towards
    pitcher when you see ball - keep weight back
  • Squash The Bug- Quickly pivot the back foot
    towards the pitcher, as if squashing a bug with
    the ball of your back foot (Note Front foot
    should NOT pivot)
  • Throw the Hands at the Ball. Short/ compact
    swingstraight to the ball.
  • Hands inside the baseball Thrust the knob of
    the bat inside the baseball-between your belly
    and the ball. Bat barrel should follow knob
    through zone
  • Hit the ball out in front of the plate allow
    outside pitch to get deeper in on you
  • As you swingchin should rotate from front
    shoulder to back shoulder
  • If its a strike see the bat hit the ball!
  • If its a ballwatch it all the way into
    catchers mitt
  • Good follow-through Keep both hands on the bat
  • Swing _at_ strikesnothing above the hands!
  • Station 6 Catching Throwing
  • Catching Ready positionglove tip up about chest
    high, palm of your mitt facing thrower.
  • USE TWO Hands. Use throwing hand to press glove
    shut. Place throwing hand under glove with palm
    facing upfingers pointing to thrower. Relax
    elbows!
  • Rotate glove left to right to field the throw
    (like waving to someone)
  • Soft Hands Let the ball come to youdont reach
    for itlike catching a raw egg.
  • Pop Flies Turn Rundont drift Two hands!
  • Outfielders Get the ball and come up throwing!
  • Throwing Turn body so that the shoulder of
    catching arm lines up with the target
  • Feed the Horse Bring ball back at full extension
    as if feeding an apple to a horse directly
    behind you.
  • As you cock throwing arm back, stride directly
    towards target with glove-side leg.
  • From feed the horse position, bring the ball
    the elbow directly over the top for full
    over-hand throwing motion.
  • Aim for catchers chest when throwing
  • Follow-through on all throwsswinging
    throwing-arm leg around to line-up with glove
    leg. Shoulders should now be squared-upready to
    receive the throw back.
