    traditional and nontraditional lenders and three
    nonprofit housing developers to offer
    low-interest rate interim and permanent financing
    for new home construction and rehabilitation of
    existing homes for people at 50-80 of area
    median income.
  • By September 2007, increase interim and permanent
    financing options for south Dallas families whose
    incomes fall between 50-80 of area median
    income by identifying at least six financial
    institutions that offer flexible lending for new
    construction and rehabilitation of existing homes.

    Federal Reserve Bank to discuss the need for more
    flexible lending standards to increase home
    ownership opportunities for South Dallas

    incomes between 50-80 of area median.
  • Make presentations to nonprofit housing
    developers and secure partnerships with funders
    to offer traditional and non-traditional

    families overcome barriers to home ownership.

    SDCAC lending partners.

    financing approvals for families within target
    population.

    other public communicators to discuss fair and
    accurate reporting of news in and around South
    Dallas.
  • Work collaboratively with local media editors to
    establish guidelines for reporting news in and
    around South Dallas.
  • Assemble a panel of South Dallas opinion leaders
    to identify specific strategies for promoting
    positive images.
  • Create a brand slogan to promote South Dallas.
  • Develop a promotional plan to collaborate with
    Crime Watch groups and the Dallas Police
    Department to increase patrols.

    promote a positive image of South Dallas to make
    known the many assets of this community by

  • Seek funding to hire a grant writer to identify

    planning and implementation process.
  • Continue positive branding and promotional

  • Regular meeting are held on quarterly basis with
    local media news editors for ongoing information
    exchanges to prevent misinformation from being
    reported about South Dallas.
  • Local news stories contain accurate geographic
    information regarding news being reported in and
    around south Dallas.
  • More accurate reporting of crime and other social
    issues resulting in a positive perception of
    community safety.
  • Task Force members are holding regular in-person
    meetings and/or presentations with Dallas
    opinion leaderspolitical, business, education,
    community and faith-based.
  • New media requests for interviews with Dallas
    opinion leaders about South Dallas and they speak
    in terms consistent with the positive image
    promotion campaign.
  • Public buildings, local businesses and community
    centers are peppered with historical exhibits and
    informational displays highlighting unique
    aspects of South Dallas culture.
  • Increase in number of press releases and media
    advisories about positive news sent to local
    media outlets.
  • Increase in number of feature stories
    highlighting positive aspects of life, work and
    play in South Dallas.
  • Increase in economic development activity within
