• We are looking for people who have
• An informed interest in architecture, landscape
  architecture, interior design and industrial
  design.
• Opinions about the world and the ability to
  express these opinions.
• An inquiring mind, and visual and spatial
  creative thinking about design.
• An ability to think about design and the physical
  environment around them and the ability to
  express opinions on these topics.
• The ability to communicate and demonstrate their
  creativity and sense of design in any media.

• What you can do to prepare
• Read about architecture, landscape architecture,
  interior design and industrial design
  particularly in the general media.
• Develop an inquiring attitude to the world and
  think about what you see around you.
• Develop and learn to express opinions about
  architecture, art and culture.
• Attend the School Exhibition of student work at
  the end of each semester and the Program Major
  Project Exhibitions of student work. Contact
  School for exhibition details.
• Attend Open Day on the 10th of August, 2003.
• Enrol in the September Career Discovery Short
  Course through RMIT Training (Ph 1800 067 117
  www.rmit.edu.au/shortcourses).

• Prerequisites
• Successful completion of the Victorian
  Certificate of Education (VCE) with a study score
  of at least 25 in Units 3 and 4 English.
• Apply through VTAC
• All applicants MUST apply through VTAC by the
  30th of September, 2003.
• Pre-selection Design Exercise (for VCE, Non-Year
  12 Mature Age)
• Applicants will be advised via mail to attend a
  three-hour design exercise at a venue (TBA) on
  Sunday the 23rd of November.  The exercise
  requires no preparation and will assess both
  visual and written creative thinking. No sample
  exercises are available.
• Interview Applicants who successfully complete
  the design exercise will be invited for an
  interview in early December before a panel
  usually consisting of two staff members and a
  current student. All applicants are asked similar
  questions. Some questions may be seeking a more
  personal response rather than knowledge.
• Standard applicants do not require a portfolio.

• All applicants MUST apply through VTAC by the

• Prerequisites
• Successful completion of the Victorian

• Apply through VTAC
• All applicants MUST apply through VTAC by the
  30th of September, 2003.
• Design exercise and 1st Interview
• This will be held from the 24th - 27th November,
  2003. No other interview time can be arranged.
  Applicants must contact the School of
  Architecture and Design between the 5th and 14th
  of November to obtain details of the Design
  Exercise including appointment time and date. No
  preparation is necessary! Your folio is NOT
  required at the first interview. Folios will be
  required for those applicants who get invited
  back for a second interview.
• 2nd Interview
• Successful applicants will be invited via
  telephone or mail to attend a 2nd interview at
  which a portfolio should be presented for
  discussion. Second interviews will take place on
  the 2nd 5th December, 2003.

• Prerequisites
• Successful completion of the Victorian
  Certificate of Education (VCE) with a study score
  of at least 25 in Units 3 and 4 English.
• Apply through VTAC
• All applicants MUST apply through VTAC by the
  30th September, 2003.
• Selection Session
• These will be held from 8th 10th of December,
  2003. No other session times can be arranged.
  Applicants must contact the School of
  Architecture and Design between the 5th and 14th
  of November to register for a selection session.
  No preparation is necessary!
• It is a 3-hour design exercise/interview
  process. Applicants undertake an individual
  design exercise while staff and current students
  circulate through the room interviewing
  individual applicants. One or maybe 2 of the
  staff will want to review and discuss your folio
  with you. At the end of the session applicants
  will briefly present their design exercise.
