Mrs. Laurie Brown

• I graduated from the University of Memphis and I
  also attended the University of Mississippi.
• I have taught 5th grade, 3rd grade, and
  Kindergarten---but my favorite grade is 2nd
  grade!!
• My husband is Chris Brown, but not the singer or
  the professional football player.
• My children are Sarah, Hunter, Anna, Hannah, and
  Austin.
• We have a dog named Zoe and a cat named Smokey.

Educational relationship

• We must work together as a team to benefit your
  child. Please approach school tasks with a
  positive attitude and support for your childs
  teacher.
• Please tell me any information that will help me
  be a better teacher to your child.
• Rest assured that all information will be kept
  confidential.
• I will be open with you about your childs
  progress so we can reward success and brainstorm
  to overcome defeat.

• 1st time 5 minutes out of an activity
• 2nd time 10 minutes out of an activity
• 3rd time silent lunch and note to parents

Behavior management information

• Student behavior is recorded in a conduct book.
  There is no public posting of behavior.
• A check mark and the rule number that was broken
  will be recorded in the conduct book.
• I will conference individually with students to
  make sure that any inappropriate behavior s are
  pointed out. Replacing these behaviors with
  positive choices will be discussed.
• The goal is to get each child to take
  responsibility for their choices and the
  consequences , both good and bad, of those
  choices.
• Each childs conduct report will be sent home
  weekly in the Wednesday Runner.

Field trips

• Students should wear green uniform shirts on
  field trips.
• No siblings will be allowed to accompany us on a
  field trip.
• Parents who volunteer to be a chaperone will be
  responsible for monitoring their assigned
  students at all times.
• More information will be sent home concerning
  places and dates of our field trips.

Mrs. Browns Advice

• Encourage your child to try new things and be
  independent. Second grade is a
• transition year for your child to spread
• their wings!
• Check my website often! Not only does it keep you
  informed, but it contains links to sites that
  will help your child review and practice needed
  skills.
• Please check your childs take home folder and
  agenda nightly.
• Email me with any
• questions albrown_at_briarcrest.com

• Look at your childs Wednesday Runner on
  Wednesday. Please sign it and return the graded
  papers the next morning. I will return all papers
  at the end of the nine weeks.
• The best way to make sure I get information is a
  written note sent with your child in the morning.
• Have your child at school on time so they can
  start their day confident and on schedule.
