  chain management and sustainability and the
  subject is dealt with in many different fora

Focus

• Two types of approaches
• control
• innovation/creation.
• Most were in favour of the innovation approach
  focusing on opportunities and thought that a
  criteria and audit type project would be a
  duplication of existing projects
• Instead of a traditional project approach the
  participants wanted to jump into working mode as
  quickly as possible.
• The main focus should be on co-creation of value
  for all actors in the supply chain

Various thoughts

• Should establish a platform for the use of our
  ideas, having dialogues with stakeholders and
  government on how the systems could be used more
  effectively
• We should be looking at how to establish more
  intelligent products that could create the market
  pull. A workshop could be case-oriented trying to
  visualize the lot of work that is being done and
  which is not visible for the consumers/customer
• How can we help raise the awareness and
  capability of the new suppliers in the developing
  countries
• Working with the supply chain is working out of
  the company. Working with UNIDO is working out of
  the Nordic countries. How far should the outreach
  be? UNIDO can play a role concerning access to
  governments in the South.
• Use scenarios try to paint the picture of what
  it takes.
• How do we get the consumer to ask for the story
  behind the product?
• Instead of a control focus we should have a
  customer value focus. Find common customers and
  suppliers to find win-win solutions and the
  business case. Test it with reality.
• Identify the difference that sustainability makes
  for the customers. Understand the customer needs
  and the customer situation
• Customers do not know that they buy products that
  are below their own expectations. Just telling
  that you are thinking and practicing
  sustainability will only fulfill their
  expectation.
• Consider how to involve politicians - what
  support is needed?
