Program
  • Designed to augment seasonal/peak load staffing
    needs
  • Application process with Department of Labor and
    Homeland Security
  • Documentation of efforts to hire U.S. workers
  • Partnership/Relationship with country of worker
    origin (e.g. Jamaica, Mexico)

H2-B Visa Relief
  • Seasonal workers who work for less than a year
  • Visas capped at 66,000 per year
  • In 2005, first year cap was enforced
  • Legislation enacted in 2005 to provide relief
    that included temporary exemption from cap for
    returning workers
  • A new one-year extension was included in a
    government funding bill and enacted
  • Exemption expires on September 30, 2007

Benefits of the H2-B Program
  • Identify group of workers who want to work in the
    U.S. for a defined period of time
  • Returning workers provide sustained level of
    service therefore less training is required
  • Help fill seasonal/temporary positions which are
    often difficult to fill
  • Strong work ethic and desire to return each
    season
