exchange in the construction sector

Background
  • Public works in Japan
  • Design and construction are executed as
    independent work by separate contracts.
  • Contract company is selected through competitive
    tendering.
  • Documents and drawings are required to be
    delivered in digital form (e-Delivery).
  • e-Delivery CAD data format (SXF) is determined
    and maintained in the Construction Information
    Standard Committee (CISC) as software independent
    standard format.
  • SXF is adopted in Construction CALS/EC.
  • SXF is adopted almost 100 by the MLIT(Ministry
    of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Japan) as
    e-Delivery CAD data format.

What is SXF?
  • SXF(SCADEC data eXchange Format)
  • ?SCADEC Standard for CAD data Exchange
    Consortium
  • SXF is CAD software independent standard format.
  • There exist two types of SXF physical format
  • SXF(P21) SXF(SFC)
  • SXF(P21) specification is based on ISO10303
    (STEP) AP202
  • SXF(SFC) is almost compatible to SXF(P21) in
    lighter specification.

History of SXF
  • 19992000
  • Standard for CAD data Exchange Consortium (-
    SCADEC -)
  • 37 organizations and 201 companies participated
    in the consortium.
  • JACIC is a secretariat for the consortium.
  • Specification of SXF level 2 was determined.
  • 2002
  • MLIT has adopted SXF(P21) as a standard CAD
    format for e-Delivery.
  • 2005
  • Local governments start to adopt CALS/EC for all
    public works.
  • SXF(P21) SXF(SFC)

SXF Development Levels
To satisfy that drawing image is reproduced
accurately on screen (and paper).
Level1

To satisfy that 2-dimensional CAD data is
completely exchanged among various CAD software,
thus satisfies the requirements for e-Delivery
Level2

To satisfy that 3-dimensional geometric feature
is completely exchanged.
Level3
To satisfy that product model data is exchanged
among CAD and related software including GIS and
construction cost estimation.
