  • Name one examination course available in school
that helps promote participation in games (1).
  • JSLA, CSLA, HSLA, GCSE, A Level, BTEC, GNVQ.
  • Not football, cricket, rugby or other activity.
  • Question 2.
  • Identify 2 ways that examination courses help to
develop skills in games (2).(2 ways needed)

    uipment/facilities.
  • Question 3.

club, affect the quality of sporting facilities
available to the games player? (3
    reasons/examples)
  • 1 pt by explaining that privately owned clubs
will make profits from charging member fees
subscriptions. 2 pts for explaining that this
will mean higher quality facilities equipment
being available for the games player.

4
  • Question 4
  • Describe 2 different ways in which friends could
encourage a player to continue taking part in
    games (2).
  • Take them to an activity/join in with
them/explain them about the benefits of being
involved/help support them/encourage them to be
part of a team/meet new friends.
  • Question 5
  • Different types of feedback in practice
    situations can often improve performance.
identify 2 different types of feedback briefly
explain how each may help improve performance in
    Games(4).
  • 1 mark each for stating intrinsic extrinsic
    feedback.
  • 1 mark for explanation Intrinsic information
that the individual can give themselves about
their performance. How it felt or the result of an
    action, technique or skill.
  • 1 mark for explanation Extrinsic information
given by external source such as a team mate,
teacher, coach, crowd, parent, peers /or family.

5
  • Explain why games players may have difficulty
using skills learned during training in
    competitive game situations (8).
  • Skills learned tend to be practiced as closed
    to develop consistency accuracy.
  • Practice does not provide high degree of
pressure. This means that the games player will
not be able to sense danger, a change of movement
or tactic/strategy required in a game activity.
  • Competitive situations require the player to
adapt their skills due to other players /or team
tactics. Training will not always provide the
    appropriate situation to develop this.
  • Competitive situations will increase pressure.
The importance of the game, reward, coach
    expectations, crowd, team mates.
  • Level of skill in practice may only be at novice
or intermediate level where as game might require
    advanced level.
  • External factors such as different pitch,
    equipment, weather, different team mates
quality of opponents may effect performance of
    skills in games.

6
  • Intrinsic extrinsic motivation is important to
all top level performers. Explain the meaning of
each why intrinsic motivation is the more
    important. (4)
  • 1 mark each for naming explaining each
    motivation (not feedback).
  • Intrinsic motivation is from within, a desire,
determination drive to do well, develop, win or
    improve.
  • Extrinsic motivation is from outside such as a
prize, reward, trophy, money, points, opponents,
    occasion, crowd, team mates.
  • Intrinsic motivation is the more important as
without it the person will not have the necessary
    drive, enthusiasm determination to
    improve/develop even if other extrinsic
    motivators are present.
