Definition of Green Collar Jobs

• Green collar jobs are defined as blue collar jobs
  in green businesses that is, manual labor jobs
  in businesses whose products and services
  directly improve environmental quality
  (Pinderhughes, 2006).
• Professor Raquel Pinderhughes of SF State
  examined 22 different sectors of Berkeley that
  can provide green collar jobs. She is conducting
  research for San Francisco, regarding Green
  Collar job opportunities in five areas

  Urban Forestry
• Green Building

SFE Environmental Justice Programs Services to
Support Green Collar Jobs

• Environmental Justice grants supported training
  projects in gardening, energy, air quality,
  hazardous materials remediation
• Contracted with Mark Richmond of Practica to
  develop a train the trainer workshop
• Collect and organize educational resources and
  training materials will be made available
  online
