Optional Yahoo Stock Screening Guidelines

• At Yahoos Stock Screener, begin to set your
  criteria for companies that match (as close as
  possible) the market capitalization category
  youve chosen small-cap, mid-cap, or large-cap.
  (Look under Share Data). Select less than
  1Billion for small cap, between 1-5 Billion
  for mid-cap, and greater than 5 Billion for
  Large Cap.
• Next, set the criteria for the PE range
  (price-earnings ratio) that is recommended for
  your assigned investment style Value, Growth or
  Blend for the capitalization category youve
  chosen. Refer to your syllabus for PE ranges for
  each market capitalization category.
• If your list of screened companies is too large
  after screening for market cap PE criteria, you
  may need to use additional screening criteria,
  such as
• beta, historical earnings growth, forecast
  earnings growth, and dividend yield.
• check to see if the companies you have selected
  are included in Value Line. All companies
  selected for the Virtual Stock Exchange project
  must be in Value Line.
• Print a one year Yahoo Chart for each company
  selected. Print a Value Line report for each
  company selected.
• Select 50 stocks from 30 different industries,
  using industries as defined by Value Line.
• At this time, you may want to post your criteria
  and the company values to a spreadsheet.
• You are now ready to purchase stocks for your
  portfolio.
