Getting Started
  • Get on the internet.
  • Type the Moodle address on the address bar of
Internet Explorer that has been provided.
  • Once at the moodle homepage, you will notice that
    there are no courses available.
  • You will be viewing the creation of a moodle
course, categories, tutorial, and a quiz/test.

3
As shown below, the only thing available is the
calendar on the right after Moodle has been
configured. The process of creating courses is
now the beginning of your virtual online learning
environment. You will be able to post documents,
presentations, videos, audio files, and whatever
your imagination can think of.
Now that Moodle has been configured, its time to
create as well as log in. Click on the Login text
on the top right hand corner.
4
As the administrator, your account is already
created so type in your password and login.
Others can also log in once their account has
been created or they can create their own by
clicking on Create new account button below.
If however, you want to log in as a guest, you
can by clicking on the button above but
accessibility to the materials available will be
limited.
5
Creating a Course
We begin by creating a course. Click on the Add
a new course button above.
6
Step by Step
  • Step 1 Several boxes need to be filled in. Begin
filling them in and click on save changes at the
    bottom of the page.
  • Step 2 Notice what was filled in. Category only
has one option which is the default
(miscellaneous) but this will change once the
    first course is created.
  • Step 3 Assign roles shows who can be assigned.
Set administrator for this role to control
everything in the tutorial. To return back to the
administrators homepage, click on MATI on the
    top left hand corner.
  • Step 4 Now that youre at the administrators
homepage, notice the Moodle course has been
created however, no materials have been uploaded
which is the next step. On the top right hand
corner, click on Turn Editing On.
  • Step 5 With editing turned on, notice the icons
that have appeared under each of the column
headings. We are now going to add more categories
other than just having miscellaneous as the
    default setting.
  • Step 6 Under site administration, click on
courses. Notice the options that are available.
    Click on add/edit courses.
  • Step 7 Miscellaneous is the only course category
listed but thats about to change. On the right
hand side of Miscellaneous, youll notice a one.
Enter your category in the box and click on Add
    New Category.
  • Step 8 As you enter the category, it gets listed.
Begin entering your categories one at a time.

Moodle course now has a one which means the
course has been moved successfully. Now click on
MATI at the top left hand side which will return
you back to the administrators homepage.
