Chromosomes and Genes

• Each body cell contains an identical set of
  genes.
• Genes are located on the chromosomes which are
  found in pairs in the nucleus of the cell.
• Each pair of chromosomes contains one from the
  mother and one from the father.

DNA

• A chromosome is made up of a long, twisted strand
  of DNA.
• Genes are sections of the DNA that contain
  instructions for specific proteins to be produced
  by the cell to determine the traits of the
  organism.
• The arrangement of DNA provides the code for
  building cells, tissues, organs, organ systems,
  and all other parts.

Nucleotide

• Made of a phosphate, deoxyribose sugar, and a
  base.

Base Pairs

• Bases always pair together with the same base.
• Adenine always pairs with Thymine A-T
• Cytosine always pairs with Guanine C-G
