REVIEW CRITERIA FOR CHANGING P-FW (10.23,D,2,e)

• Area no longer used as wintering area for at
  least 10 years.
• Consistent with the standards for district
  boundaries, CLUP, and the purpose, intent and
  provisions of 12 M.R.S.A., Chapter 206-A, Land
  Use Regulation.
• The new district designation is more appropriate
  for the protection and management of existing
  uses and resources with the affected area.

• Alternatively, the Commission may approve such a
  subdistrict change
• if the owner of the land and the Commissioner of
  MDIFW area that such a change is appropriate or
• the area is not needed to meet the Departments

REVIEW CRITERIA FOR CHANGING P-FW

• Comprehensive Land Use Plan (Ch. 5 Sec. L)
• Goal for wildlife and fisheries resources is to
  conserve and protect the aesthetic, ecological,
  recreation, scientific, cultural, and economic
  value
• Encouraging management of resources to maintain
  their habitats, diversity, and populations
• Encouraging cooperative agreements between
  landowners and public agencies which further the
  Commissions policies and goals, when
  appropriate, modify the Commissions zoning to
  facilitate the execution of such agreements.

CONCLUSIONSRECOMMENDATION

• Petition is consistent with standards for P-FW
  subdistricts, the Comprehensive Land Use Plan,
  and 12 M.R.S.A., Chapter 206-A.
• Therefore, the staff recommends that the 6,357
  acres be rezoned to M-GN and other applicable
  protection subdistricts as proposed by the
  petitioner.
