EPICS Link What is it?

• Provides a link between external applications and
  the EPICS Advanced Production Data Collection
  screen
• Uses a single ActiveX library - EpicsLink.DLL
• Requires EPICS client to be installed and
  configured on the same workstation as
  EpicsLink.DLL

EPICS Link Who should use it?

• Equipment manufacturers that want to capture live
  production data and post directly to EPICS
• Other Enterprise System developers (e.g.
  fabrication software) that want to post results
  to EPICS
• Granco Clark uses EPICS Link as part of their SCS
  Extrude package

EPICS Link How to use it

• External application writes production data to
  ShiftProd and ShiftProdDetail
• External app calls EPICS Link library to post
  each transaction
• Posted data can be viewed or modified from EPICS

Creating ShiftProd data

• Create ShiftProd header record
• Required DeptNum, MachineNum, Dt (date), Shift,
  StartTime (date and time)
• Other fields depending on department
• Die, Copy, and Actual Weight for Extrusion
• Load number for Anodizing
• Etc.
• Contact Foy Inc. to obtain specific requirements
  by department

Creating ShiftProd data

• Create all necessary ShiftProdDetail records for
  each category
• BIL Billets used
• PRD Good pieces produced
• SCR Scrap pieces
• REW Pieces sent for rework
• DT Down time
• CON Paint consumption

Posting data with EpicsLink.DLL

• Single call to .Post function above distributes
  data to other EPICS tables affected by production
  (SOItemDept, SOItemHist, Workorder,
  ProductionDetail, MachineHist, etc.)

EPICS Link How to get it

• Call or email Foy Inc.
• EpicsLink.DLL and documentation are available
  free of charge
• EPICS Link is licensed per machine
• Temporary licenses are available for development
