Title: The 2020 Vision
1 The 2020 Vision
2On October 18, 2008, the Elders and Ministers
began a series of meetings together to seek Gods
vision for the future of this congregation
- Why?
- Because we believe that this is a critical time
for our congregation.
3Why is this a critical time?
- Vision changes over time. The original vision of
the planters of this church has been fulfilled or
even exceeded! - Growing churches plan declining churches just
solve problems (Proactive vs. Reactive
leadership). - Our NCD score recognized our need for renewed
vision - The recession Vision helps us keep on track with
our mission during times of economic challenge.
4Thus far has the Lord led us I Sam
712Because God has said, Never will I leave
you never will I forsake you. So I say with
confidence, The Lord is my helper I will not be
afraid. -- Heb. 135-6
- We may not know the future, but we know Him who
holds the future!
5Where weve been
- What God has done
- Gives us a taste of what God will do
6Jeremiah 2911-13 (New International Version)
For I know the plans I have for you,
declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not
to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Then you will call upon me and come and pray to
me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me
and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
7- For what I received I passed on to you as of
first importance that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures, that he was buried,
that he was raised on the third day according to
the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter,
and then to the Twelve. -- I
Corinthians 153-4

12The Vision Process
13What is Vision?
- Vision is a picture of the future
- Vision is a picture of what God wants us to
become as a church - Vision arises from our values
14The Vision of the CK Church of Christ
- We want to be a church that connects people to
God and to each other in order to transform
lives.
15A Vision of Transformation
- And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the
Lords glory, are being transformed into his
likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes
from the Lord, who is the Spirit. --II Cor.
318
16Romans 121-2 (New International Version)
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of
Gods mercy, to offer your bodies as living
sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God this is
your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any
longer to the pattern of this world, but be
transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then
you will be able to test and approve what Gods
will is his good, pleasing and perfect will.
17- As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens
another. -- Proverbs 2717 - be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
-- Romans 122 - to be made new in the attitude of your minds
and to put on the new self, created to be like
God in true righteousness and holiness.
Eph. 423-24
18Mission vs. Vision
- Vision is what we believe God wants us to become
- Mission is what He calls us to be and do in order
to become
