How the 48/96 works

• Two consecutive 24-hour shifts, followed by four
  24-hour days off duty.

Research Conducted by MVFLS

• The 48/96 Committee sent survey questions to 41
  departments working the 48/96.
• Both Administrations and Union E-boards were
  contacted.
• We received replies from nine departments and
  summarized their reports.

• Do you make provisions for crews that have had
  little sleep the first nights shift?
• Eight of the nine said they have given their
  officers the ability to allow their crews to rest
  on the second shift if needed.
• Three of the nine said these provisions are
  rarely needed.
