2YC Mission Statement
The mission of York College is to provide a

3Work-Study Jobs
There are over 100 hours of work-study jobs
available this semester. If you are interested in
finding a job that works with your school
schedule, please stop by the Financial Aid office
and talk to Meghan or email her at

4Unvarnished Words
Sigma Tau Delta is accepting original works for
publication in York Colleges literary magazine,
Unvarnished Words. Poetry - Feb 4 thru 11 Short
Stories (Fiction Non) - Feb 11 - 18 Essays
Artwork - Feb 18 thru 25 Email entries to
bdmcneese_at_york.edu Guidelines must be in Word
format 1500 words max double-spaced limit 2
entries per person be sure to include your name
on your work.
5Work Study Students
- Work-Study checks will be available in the
Finance office on Tuesday, February 10th. If you
have not turned in all of your paperwork bring it
to Meghan before picking up your check.
6S.T.E.P.
- All students graduating with a Bachelors degree
from York College are required to pass the
Sophomore Test of English Proficiency after
completing 45 hours of coursework. If a student
does not pass the exam by the second attempt, he
or she will be required to pass ENG 203, English
Proficiency, with a grade of C or higher. - Hint Putting the test off until your last
semester may cause major scheduling problems for
you if you fail. - The exam will be offered two times this semester
Thursday, Feb. 12, 300 p.m., H100 and Saturday,
Feb. 21, 930 a.m., H100. You should allow 2
hours for the exam. Please arrange your
schedule to allow you to take the exam one of
these two times. Come by the Office of Academic
Affairs in Sack 208 to register for the exam or
call Linda Ross at 363-5677.

8Attention Education Majors
- Every Education Student who is planning to
student teach in the fall 2009 semester must come
by Deb Friesens office, 215 Middlebrook Hall,
to pick up a Student Teaching Application Form.
The application will need to be filled out and
returned to Mrs. Friesen by February 18, 2009.
Please do this ASAP!

local family battling CancerPlease support the
Women's team at 530 and the Men's team at 730.
There will be a Ceremony between the two games.
