  school, from Greece.

OUR COUNTRY

• Greece is found in the south-eastern utmost
  Europe. It is the cultural and commercial
  crossroad of three Continents.
• Occasionally, from our land, a lot of populations
  passed and left many of their cultural and
  religious aspects . Thus, today all the Greeks
  have the virtue to accept all our fellowmen from
  anywhere they emanate.

• The residents of our country are 11.000.000
• The sun, the sea, our islands, the smile and the
  hospitality of "Xenio Dia", make our country one
  of the best destinations for vacations.
• It is a pleasure for us to participate in a
  program where we will collaborate with beloved
  neighbours and friends.

OUR CITY

• The 11th special school is placed in the city of
  Thessalonica. Thessalonica is the second bigger
  city of Greece after Athens - and her co
  capital. Thessalonicas population is 1.000.000
  residents and is a modern European city with
  various population.

Our school

• Our school is the 11th special primary school
  and functions from 1990 in the pediatric
  department of the hospital "G. GENNIMATAS".

Name of the school

• The school was named "special" due to its
  special conditions of operation and because each
  hospitalized child requires particular treatment.

Operation of the school

• The 11th special school is a three teacher
  primary school. In each pediatric department
  there is also a schoolteacher
• Pediatric

• Pediatric surgery
• The school functions from Monday until Friday
  during the hours 830 1300
• Actually, it functions as three independant
  schools.

Space of teaching

• The office of the school is placed in the
  hospital and the teaching takes place in the
  clinical rooms, in the beds of the hospitalised
  children and according to the needs of each
  child.

The process

• The first phase is the acquaintance of the
  schoolteacher with each child separately.
• Briefing of the student and his parent on the
  role of the hospital schoolteacher.
• Course, game, painting, discussion in the bed of
  each child.

Duration

• The time of the hospitalisation of the children
  in the pediatric and pediatric surgery
  departement is relatively small, from a few days
  until one month maximum.
• In the orthopedic clinic, however, the children
  remain for quite a long time , from one month up
  to one year. These children are considered
  children with chronic hospitalisation.

Ascertainments

• The value of hospital schools is quite big. It
  is an institution that enjoys satisfaction and
  pleasure from the children as well as their
  parents.

Proposals

• If we want to speak for equal educational
  opportunities for all the students, this
  institution must
• Extend itself in each pediatric clinic
• The institutional operation must include
  Secondary and High schools , so that the
  childrens rehabilitation is more soft and
  smooth when they return to their regular school.
