Goals for Inclusion of Students with Disabilities
in the Oklahoma School Testing Program
  • Assess majority of students with assessments
    aligned to general achievement standards
  • Provide students access to the general curriculum
  • Develop universally designed assessments
  • Ensure both special and regular education
teachers set high expectations for SWD and
    understand State content standards

5
Population for Students Participating in the
Modified Assessments
  • These modified assessments are intended for gap
students for whom the Oklahoma Alternate
Assessment Program and the general OSTP
    assessments are inappropriate.
  • These students represent roughly 2 of the
    student population.
  • The goal is to provide a test that is comparable
to OSTP but more accessible for this population

6
Development of Modified Assessments
7
Alignment
  • The items on these modified tests align to the
    Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS).

8
Source of Items
  • Items are selected from previously administered
Oklahoma School Testing Program Core Curriculum

Modified Blueprints
  • Modified blueprints use same percentage of items
    per standard as original blueprints.
  • Committee of teachers will review blueprints to
confirm appropriate distribution of items across
    the standards and objectives.

15
Modified Item Specifications
  • General assessment item specs have been modified
    to become OMAAP item specs.
  • Committees will review draft OMAAP item specs
    before reviewing items.

16
Modified Item Specifications
  • For each OMAAP objective committees decide on
  • Emphasis
  • Stimulus Attributes
  • Format
  • Content Limits
  • Distractor Domain

17
Modification of Items
18
General Modifications
  • Three answer choices
  • Two or three items per page

  • Show a portion of the passage followed by the
items related to that part of the passage.
