5Population for Students Participating in the
Modified Assessments
- These modified assessments are intended for gap
students for whom the Oklahoma Alternate
Assessment Program and the general OSTP
assessments are inappropriate. - These students represent roughly 2 of the
student population. - The goal is to provide a test that is comparable
to OSTP but more accessible for this population

Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS).

- Items are selected from previously administered
Oklahoma School Testing Program Core Curriculum
Tests (OSTP OCCT). - Items are modified for this assessment.

14Modified Blueprints
- Modified blueprints use same percentage of items
per standard as original blueprints. - Committee of teachers will review blueprints to
confirm appropriate distribution of items across
the standards and objectives.

- General assessment item specs have been modified
to become OMAAP item specs. - Committees will review draft OMAAP item specs
before reviewing items.

18General Modifications
- Three answer choices
- Two or three items per page
- One column format
- Larger font than in OSTP test booklets
- Student marks responses directly in test booklet.

- Reduce amount and level of reading as much as
possible. - Bold and underline key text in items and passages
as appropriate. - Avoid use of best / better / most likely /
closest. - Avoid use of no change as an answer choice.

- Break passages apart.
- Show a portion of the passage followed by the
items related to that part of the passage. - Writing Prompts
- Simplify prompt.
- Modify rubric.

- Display the number on all sides for questions
about perimeter. - Avoid items with negative and positive answer
choices (4 and 4). - Use grids for area questions.

- Avoid items that ask students to redefine their
perception of an object (e.g. fold this object
along the dotted line).

25Depth of Knowledge
- Most items will be DOK Level 1 or Level 2.
26DOK Level 1
- Level 1 requires the student to recall facts,
terms, definitions, or simple procedures perform
simple algorithms or apply formulas. - One-step, well-defined, or straight algorithmic
procedures should be included at this level.
27DOK Level 2
- Level 2 requires the student to make some
decisions as to how to approach the problem or
activity. - Level 2 activities include making observations
and collecting data classifying, comparing, and
organizing data and organizing and displaying
data in tables, charts, and graphs.

AYP(Portfolio Assessment)
- Applies to the number of proficient and advanced
scores that may be included in AYP determinations - Does not limit the number of students taking an
assessment against alternate achievement
standards - Applies at the state and district levels
- Alternate assessments based on grade level
achievement standards would not be affected by
the 1 cap

Education Programs (IEPs)?
- To place a child in the OMAAP, an IEP meeting
will have to be scheduled to discuss - Eligibility for placement in an alternate
assessment. - Changes to the curriculum.
- OMAAP is an alternate assessment
- Goals and objectives will be required for all
subjects that will be assessed on the OMAAP. - Goals and objectives will have to be written for
the grade of which the student is enrolled.
