• He was born in 1924 in Kysuce, what was a very
  poor district of Slovakia in those times.
• He grew up in a family with eleven siblings and
  some of them became actors. However, he was the
  most succesful of them.
• He died in Bratislava when he was 74 years old.

• Jozef Króner was a self-made man but his artistry
  was highly appreciated.
• In 1966 he got The Academy Award Oscar for the
  best foreign film Obchod na korze The shop on
  the pedestrian precinct .

• His other films Pacho, Kubo, The Millenian Bee
  were also remarkable.
• He gained the praise from the Czech Republic,
  Hungary, Poland, Italy and Bulgaria, too.

• In his free time he was a keen fisherman who
  wrote wonderful recipes for cookery books and he
  also illustrated his stories.

• Jozef Króner was beloved by children and adults
  for his warm heart and kind humour.
• When he was 70, he got a letter with
  congratulation from the Pope John Paul II.

His unforgetable voice reminds me of my childhood
and fairy-tales. Through his well-performed
characters I learnt to love Slovak classical
literature. Despite his successful career, he
