• A flea and a fly in a flue
• Were caught, so what could they do?
• Said the fly, "Let us flee."
• "Let us fly," said the flea.
• So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

• Note the rhyme scheme (aabba)
• Note the rhythm, or beats per line (9,9,6,6,9
  roughly)
• Note that limericks are silly and often rude
• Note that you are in school, so you may have to
  hold back a tad

How to Write Your Own Limerick

• Pick a name (a single syllable name is best)
• Make a list of words that rhyme with that name
  (you could pick a theme here)
• Now make a list of words that have a new rhyming
  sound (youll need these to end the 3rd and 4th
  lines)
• Try putting it all together while keeping a
  steady beat
