  • the whats, whys, whens, and hows...

3
What?
  • Your exit interview evidence is a compilation of
    your student teaching greatest hits
  • The evidence should demonstrate your teaching
philosophy in theory and in practice
  • The evidence should also demonstrate your
compliance with the program and university
    standards
  • Your evidence must be
  • Electronic (Word document, PowerPoint, JPEG . . .
    )
  • Saved as a webpage
  • Posted to the History/Social Sciences SharePoint
    Site

The Exit Interview
  • All students in History 400 will participate in
an end of semester Exit Interview prior to being
    recommended for certification
  • Exit Interview Rationale
  • It is not the Spanish Inquisition
  • It is an opportunity to
  • practice your interview techniques
  • talk about yourself and your accomplishments
    during student teaching
  • showcase evidence from your portfolio

5
Why?
  • The completion of the program exit interview is
required in order to be recommended for
    certification by the History/Social Sciences
    Teacher Certification Program.

6
When?
  • Exit Interviews will be conducted on the Friday
    of Finals Week
  • Time slots and Interview Teams will be randomly
    assigned
  • Students will be given one opportunity to
participate in the exit interview. Interviews
cannot be rescheduled or made up.

7
Exit Interview Set Up
  • Read the Exit Interview Rubric carefully before
    starting!
  • Your exit interview materials will consist of
twenty pieces of evidence, one for each of the
standards on the Exit Interview Rubric.
  • You may use more than one piece of evidence to
illustrate a particular standard. If you do this
they must all be saved in the same document. See
the sample interview portfolio for examples.
  • You may use each piece of evidence only once
throughout the exit interview (This does not mean
    the matrices!!!)

8
How Should I Format My Exit Interview Evidence?
  • Standard at the top
  • Paragraph description
  • Evidence
  • Visit the Sample Portfolio for examples

Exit Interview Continued
  • As part of your exit interview, you will access
the History Social Sciences Share Point site and
upload your exit interview evidence to the
    appropriate folders

exit interview team to view your material quickly
    and efficiently

  • Start working on your Exit Interview Evidence at
the start of your Student Teaching Experience
    (History 400)

    a particular standard
  • Sit down with your cooperating teacher to discuss
different ways you can meet the standards
  • Think about how to leave a paper trail of your
    activities

12
Whats Next?

  • Think about how you can use your student teaching
experience to strengthen areas of weakness
  • Lessons, extra curricular activities,
