12What is a Blueprint?
- Have you heard of Blueprints before today?
- What do you believe a blueprint is?
13 What is a Blueprint?
- Blueprints bring together all relevant resources
on a given topic or service in one place. - Gathering information from a range of sources
- National Projects
- Partnerships
- Local Authorities etc
- Identifying the building blocks required
- Silo services
- Electronic delivery targets
- Using Standards Approvals to provide clear
standards within a blueprint.
14 How do Blueprints Work?
- Simple answer like a dream!
- However, it does get more detailed than that!
- Starting with a general overview of blueprints we
will then look at a - Blueprint already underway Social Care
- In order to show how the blueprint process works
we will need to - consider three things
- Why a blueprint is required, how is it defined
- How does a blueprint build.
- How do LeGSB ensure that the blueprints works
and are correct
15 Blueprint Building
- The Blueprint builds on recognised work to
- Reveal and clarify conflicts in possible
standards - Bring together standards and related material to
provide a simple delivery mechanism for targets - Enhance existing work by gathering additional
knowledge from Local Authority sources often
left unrecognised by organisations
16 Blueprint Building
- Blueprints support the key services priorities
for Local Authorities - Services
- Social Care
- Regulatory
- Planning etc
- Includes support for general areas
- Customer Service
- e- Procurement (Gershon)
- And Specialist targets
- ESCR, SAP, ISA, ICS

17 Blueprint Building
- Blueprints help practitioners by
- Bringing together standards relating to a topic
in the one place - Providing a single, authoritative, source of
standards related information - Accessing sources that may not be easy to reach.
- Ensuring re-use of existing work
- Categorising and contextualising the wide array
of - information available
- In other words
- Saving time
- Increasing trust confidence
- Increasing efficiency

developed for the coming year (05/06) - The blueprints will develop in 2 ways
- The development of silo blueprints within key
topics similar to Social Care. These will feed
into - The development of a critical path which will
review the targets that have been, and will be,
placed on Local Authorities and provide the
underpinning standards that will help in
achieving these goals.

27Standards Approvals
28Standards Approvals - Overview
- Standards Approvals is an open process whereby
the local government community and their partners
can submit proposals for standards to be created.
-
- The process has a number of stages that allow
for - initial assessment and prioritisation, (or
rejection) - discussion and consultation with key stakeholders
and practitioners, - if necessary a full public consultation,
