  • Rome controlled Judea
  • People in Judea did not like Roman rule
  • There were teachers who roamed the land telling
    people to live a just life

Jesus
  • Jesus began teaching like this at 30 years old.
  • People came to see him because it was said he
    could perform miracles.
  • Some people came to believe he was the Messiah.
  • Messiah A leader sent by God to guide the Jewish
    people.

Why are Jesus followers called Christians?
  • The word Messiah in Greek is Christos. People
    who followed Jesus became known as Christians,
    and their religion became known as Christianity.

    often as parables.
  • Parables simple stories that contain a message
    or truth.
  • Now We are going to watch a video on some of
    the parables that Jesus told.
