Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta,
Georgia in 1929.

He lived in a time when African Americans and
whites could not go to the same places or share
the same things.

He was very unhappy and he knew something had to
be done.

Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream
I have a dream that my four little children
one day will live in a nation where they will not
be judged by the color of their skin but by the
content of their character.

He became a great writer and speaker about his
dream.

Because of his speeches and actions, an act
called the Civil Rights Act became a law.

This law made it possible for all people to do
the same things and go the same places, no matter
what the skin color.

Tragically in 1968, Martin Luther King Jr. was
killed by a person who did not believe in his
dream.

Martin Luther King Jr. made a great contribution
to the nation. He changed the way people thought
and made America a better place for all people.
