  • Lack of clarity the training provision remains
    unclear to many employers
  • Consistency there is a lack of confidence in the
    quality of the provision

    provision
  • Cost the cost of the training is prohibitive

  • Sector Profile in the Region
  • Our sector contributed 646m in output into the
    YH economy in 2004 growth is nearly double that
    of the regions economy over the last 5 years
  • The sector employs 50,000 paid employees in over
    3500 organisations
  • Employment growth has soared in the past five
    years almost four times that of all industries
    in Yorkshire
  • Over 72 of workplaces in the sector employ one
    to ten employees.

  • Future Growth
  • The sector is expected to continue to outperform
    the YH economy until 2014 with output up to
    919m
  • Annual staff turnover is predicted to be around
    14 which combined with growth in employment will
    result in up to 90,000 paid job opportunities
    between 2004 and 2014
  • Sport England estimate there are up to 500,000
    volunteers working in the sector however
    employers say they only have 3 out of 4 people
    they need!

The Role of the NSA Hub in Yorkshire
  • To be the first point of contact, information and
    access to careers and learning for employers and
    individuals
  • To broker skills demand, ensure quality in
    provision and modules are mapped against national
    standards
  • To verify new qualifications and vocational
    pathways
  • To maximise buying power and influence and
    channel pubic subsidies
