Introduction This may be the first or second of
the Pastoral Epistles to have been written. Those
who see 1 Tim as non-Pauline, also see Titus as
such.

Titus the person-

• He was a convert of Paul. 14
• He was brought to the Jerusalem meeting in AD 49
  to demonstrate how genuine a Christian an
  uncircumcised Gentile could be. (Gal. 21-3)
• He carried the letter written with many tears
  from Ephesus to Corinth. 2 Cor. 76-7
• He was later sent to Corinth to gather the
  collection that Paul would bring to Jerusalem. 2
  Cor. 86

Date- once again this depends upon authorship,
but the most likely date, if the epistle is
Pauline is around 64 or 65 A.D.

Major Themes

• Church Structure and Order- note that 1 Timothy
  is generally more complete which has led some to
  argue that Titus was the first of the three
  letters.
• False teaching-
• They follow human rules that declare certain
  things impure. 115
• They follow some sort of myths or fables. 114
• They profess to know God. 116

  takes up two thirds of Titus There are different
  kids of advice
• For older men/women
• For younger men/women
• For Slaves
• For those who are quarrelsome 39-10- nothing is
  more harmful to such a public image than foolish
  inner-Christian dissension's and quarrels
