-Find out your AOR -Get comfortable with the
Grants.gov system.

  • Step Four draft your application and get
    someone to read it
  • Step Five submit your application by the
    deadline and waitthese things take time

Improve your chances of success
  • Focus on the Evaluation Criteria in the
    application guidelines
  • Write for a broad audience, not just your
    discipline
  • Get samples and look at our awards lists
  • Ask NEH staff to comment on a draft application
  • Get panelists comments every time you apply
  • Become a panelist or reviewer
  • Read applications for your institution
