Central FILCCA GK Village has its fair share of
ups and down. It became a model case in land
mediation process by UN and other stakeholders.
Having a secure land tenure it later became a
site for Gawad Kalinga. Although GK's involvement
started with beautifying and finishing their
multipurpose hall cum chapel, it was later
adopted by University of the Philippines and
Australia as a GK Village. Sometimes when
things reach a certain high, trials come and
people succumb to the hurdles that come their
way. The Kapitbahayan of Central FILCCA hit a low
point, KB members and officers sought work as
OFW's and others. This brought about a void in
leadership and the need to come up with a way to
jumpstart the life of the KapitBahayan and make
things work better again. Dhen Candilosas (KB
President), Jesusa Gregorio (KB Treasurer), Emma
Baloloy (BAT Leader), Rudy Agcamaran (Home Owners
Assoc. President), Juie Consejero and Rose
Candilosas (both BOD of the Home Owners Assoc.)
are the new batch of officers that sees the need
to again empower their neighbors in order to be
able to gain back the momentum they once had. So
they started out a refresher course of the
Kapitbahayan Membership Training (KBMT) in order
to remind the members of their responsibilities
and the values that they should adopt. What
empowered these officers to continue soldiering
on despite of the trials are the values that they
learned from GK. They believed that even with all
these hardships with GK there is still light at
the end of the tunnel. And they are firm with
their conviction that with GK, the community gets
its fair share of development for all, not just
for the privileged few.
