Circulatory System
4
Signs and Symptoms
  • SIDS does not have any warning signs.
  • When the infant dies, it dies suddenly and
    unexpectedly.

5
Causes
  • Causes of SIDS may be
  • Suffocation
  • Vomiting
  • Choking
  • Birth defects
  • Infection

6
Prevention
  • Many SIDS deaths can be avoided with simple steps
    such as
  • Dont confine baby
  • Dont raise the heat in infants room
  • Have a source of fresh air that can enter room
  • Open windows
  • Open doors

7
Potential Use for as Weapon
  • SIDS cannot be used as a weapon, seeing as how it
is unexpected. However, The murder of an infant
    is often mistaken for SIDS.

8
Method of Transmission
  • SIDS cannot be transmitted. It is not caught by
    someone, it just happens.

9
Treatment
  • There is no treatment for SIDS. The best that can
be done is to try to prevent it using prevention
    measures previously mentioned.

10
Prognosis
  • After SIDS, nothing can be done. The infant is
gone, but hopefully the parent learns from it.
  • The parent can go to counseling with other SIDS
    parents for support.
