• Kazza uses peer-to-peer technology. This means
  that individual users connect to each other
  directly, without need for a central point of
  management.

• The P2P searches occur through users with fast
  connection, called Supernodes, or file is sourced
  for downloading directly from the user who has it
• P2P technology is a powerful resource that allow
  people to perform communication, share ideas, and
  connect with each other a cross the globe

  software document or images that you have created
  and own

  companies such as Bertelsmann, EMI and Sony
  Music. A settlement won't be easy.
• At the height of its brief but blazing success,
  Napster handled millions of visitors all
  downloading music for free.
• The International Federation of the Phonographic
  Industry (IFPI) blames the file-swappers for
  chopping 5 per cent off global CD sales in 2001.
  So far litigation hasn't worked.

  court battle against the Recording Industry
  Association of America and the Motion Picture
  Association of America. (Peer-to-peer software
  also handles video).
• Ms Hemming says the record industry is slowly
  realising that "a new commercial model needs to

• But will companies such as EMI, Sony Music and
  BMG be happy to take a dollar or two for an
  Internet download of their latest hit rather than
  their share of 30 in a record store?
