  • The three browsers we are going to talk about are
    Opera, Firefox, and Camino

Background information Founded in 1994 by Jon
Stephenson von Tetzchner and Geir Ivarsoey Began
as a telecom company in Telenor,
Norway Headquarters now located in Oslo,
Norway 1995 was when Opera browser was first
released Roughly 340 employees Roughly 250,000

Camino 1.0
  • Another Mozilla product except it is solely for
    Mac users
  • In 2001 Mike Pinkerton and Vidur Apparao started
    a project in order to prove that Gecko could be
    embedded in a Cocoa application.
  • Began as Chimera in February of 2002, but due to
    legal issues, changed its name to Camino (Spanish
    for road or way).

Firefox Uses a XUL based user
interface Can be used by many different
operating systems Has an incredible amount of
add-ons available.
Camino Uses Cocoa APIs along with Aqua user
interface for graphics Made solely for Mac Does
not include an email client or a HTML
editor
