Title: How to get rich quick

1
How to get rich quick!
2
  • Money, most common of temporal things, involves
uncommon and eternal consequences. Even though
it may be done quite unconsciously, money molds
men in the process of getting it, saving it,
spending it and giving itEither the person
becomes master of the money or the money becomes
the master of the person. Our Lord takes money,
as essential as it is to our common lifeand
makes it a touchstone to test our lives and an
instrument to mold people into the likeness of
    Himself.
  • David McConaugh, Money, the Acid Test

  • Contentment is the conviction that I dont need
anything more than or different from what God has
given me to enjoy a great life.

4
We learn contentment through
  • 1. Seeing our resources through Gods eyes

5
  • For every beast of the forest is Mine, the
cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird of
the mountains, and everything that moves in the
field is Mine. If I were hungry I would not tell
you, for the world is Mine, and all it contains.
  • Psalm 5010-12
  • Cp. Dt. 1014 Haggai 28 Ps. 241 Leviticus

We learn contentment through
  • 1. Seeing our resources through Gods eyes
  • Whats ours is His
  • We are His
  • We are His stewards

7
  • Let a man regard us in this manner, as servants
of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
    In this case, moreover,
  • it is required of stewards that
  • one be found trustworthy.
  • 1 Corinthians 41-2

  • 2. Seeing the opportunities money buys us
  • To grow in wisdom

9
  • But those who want to get rich fall into
temptation and a snare and many foolish and
harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and
destruction. For the love of money is a root of
all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it
have wandered away from the faith and pierced
themselves with many griefs. But flee from these
things, you man of God, and pursue righteousness,
    godliness, faith, love, perseverance and
    gentleness. 1 Timothy 69-11

10
  • Do not weary yourself to gain wealth, Cease from
your consideration of it. When you set your eyes
on it, it is gone. For wealth certainly makes
itself wings Like an eagle that flies toward the
    heavens. Proverbs 234-5

  • To build our ERA

12
  • I place no value on anything I have or may
possess, except in relation to the kingdom of
God. If anything will advance the interests of
the kingdom, it shall be given away or kept, only
as by giving or keeping it I shall most promote
the glory of Him to whom I owe all my hopes in
    time or eternity.
  • David Livingstone

13
Where do we begin?
  • Remember every financial decision is a
    spiritual decision
  • Distinguish wants from needs
  • Dont get legalistic
  • Give a little
  • Give habitually
  • Learn to give generously

14
  • I do not believe one can settle how much we ought
to give. I am afraid the only safe rule is to
give more than we can spare.
  • C.S. Lewis

15
To whom should we give?
  • Family
  • Local church
  • Missions
  • Poor

16
  • I have now disposed of all my property to my
family. There is one thing more I wish I could
give them and that is faith in Jesus Christ. If
they had that faith in Christ and I had not
given them a single shilling, they would have
been rich and if they had not that faith in
Christ, and I had given them all the world, they
    would be poor indeed.
