Title: At the cool lake on a hot summer

1
  • At the cool lake on a hot summer
  • I stand on the bank and look into the water.
  • I see my reflection looking up at me,
  • It is very calm.
  • But then out farther on the lake,
  • The mighty Bull frog hops up out of the water.
  • He caught a fly. As he gulps down the fly he
    swims to me.
  • He comes to me with his chin in the air.
  • He looks me right in the eye ,
  • And he starts to talk to me.
  • I step back in astonishment,
  • I wonder how a frog could talk.
  • He said that I should get away from his lake.
  • I step back, he is still looking at me.
  • Then I run, I run all the way to my house.
  • I tell my dad what I saw, he did not believe me.

  • Here is a girl.
  • Her name shall be Pearl.
  • She is a popular girl, but her attitude may make
    you hurl!
  • One day she took a walk to the lake,
  • just for her own sake.
  • She just peered into the water,
  • and the reflection I tell you that she saw was a
    monster!
  • She screamed and ran away,
  • to go to her bedroom to lay.
  • She thought and thought.
  • Thought of what her parents had taught,
  • and then found the reason to be nice.

3
The next day at school, she no longer acted like
a fool. When time passed to lunch, she had this
terrible hunch. This guy spilled spaghetti on
her shirt. Instead of getting mad, she said,
"I'll help you, lad! Pearl cleaned the food off
the boy and herself. During her walk back home,
she passed the lake all alone. Pearl sought to
find her reflection, waiting for her neglection.
But instead she found a beautiful girl, and not
a monster that made you hurl. Kelly

I see myself in many different ways some are good
and some are badThe way I look and the way I
feel are two very different thingsI might be a
person like everyone elseBut I know that Im
special in my own waysYou shouldnt be judged by
how you look on the outside But who you are on
the inside Many things show who you are or want
to be These are your reflectionsBrandi

What do you see in yourself? What do others see
in you? When you look at yourself or reflect on
your decisions, what do you see? What do you want
to see? Reflect upon your behavior, and how
others think of you. Reflect on everything you
do. Again I ask, What do you see in yourself?

  • Look in a mirror
  • What do you see?
  • Well, its your reflection!
  • You may either see a respectful, common person,
or you may see a very unique person
  • I believe mirrors show the real you

  • We all see reflections every day
  • We look at each other and see that each other
    are each different
  • We are all different

The Pool
I bent over to jump in the pool When I saw my
reflection. Right when I was about to jump I
started to see the memories of The past, present,
and future. In the past I saw me, And the pool
was being built. Then I saw the memories of the
present. I saw my friends and I playing in the
pool, And my family growing bigger and
bigger. Then I got to the future memories. I saw
my self having a family, And the pool still up
and running. As I finished the last memory I

Reflection On Life
  • When I look back in memories Ive been used,
  • Stepped on and crushed,
  • There has also been merriment,
  • And secrets to hush,
  • So much enjoyment,
  • So little shame,
  • My spirit is high ,
  • With nothing contained,
  • A reflection on life
  • As simple as that,
  • This is what I think,
  • When I look back

  • Looking through the past
  • A simple reflection
  • So much to see,
  • So much perception,
  • So many mistakes,
  • Both good and bad,
  • Some make me happy,
  • Others sad,

12
  •  I sit by the lake
  • With the moon wide awake
  • As it hovers high in the sky
  •
  • And through the roar of thunder
  • I look up in wonder
  • How can it appear two places at once?

  • Im in the city
  • on a rainy day.
  • I see myself in a window,
  • I look very pretty.
  • The window is foggy so,
  • I cant see a thing, but
  • I can see me
  • and hear a ring.
  • I look harder to see
  • the marvels of the city in the window.
  • I see a bell up high,
  • the ring is very low.
  • Light reflects off the bell
  • and shines on my face.
  • All of a sudden the rain goes away

  • Oh, Christmas Eve, what a rush,
  • Just waiting to see what you got.
  • Will you get presents that make you glad?
  • Or will you get coal because you were bad?
  • The following morning, you get out of bed,
  • With lingering sugarplums, still in your head.
  • You run to the tree, and what do you see?
  • Thinking, Look at the presents staring at me!

  • As I sat on the tree branch I saw the lake down
    below
  • It was a long sheet of glass in the middle of two
    hills
  • The early fall air tickled my bare feet
  • I crawled out to the edge of the branch and
dangled my head over the side
  • I could feel my two long braids rubbing my cheeks
  • As I looked at my face in the water I reflected
on what I had done that summer
  • I reflected on sitting on that same branch
    reading
  • I remembered running through the hills with my
    friends
  • I recollected swimming in the lake
  • I recalled the fun I had picking the strawberries
    in the field
  • Then I pulled myself out of my reverie
  • Jumped out of the tree and ran home

When I look in the mirror I see myself. Not only
do I see myself, but I see other things like my
needs and strengths. I see someone with desires,
fears, and curiosity. Someone who loves to dance
and values trust. In the mirror, I see someone
who loves and wants to be loved in
return. Someone who stands up for what she
believes in. When I look in the mirror I see that
I am happy just as myself. I see what other
people cannot see when they look at me. And I
really wish they did.

My reflection always interests meIt is always
quite a sight to see The way it mimics anything
I do When I look in the mirror it always shows
me the truthWhether I am upset, angry, or
sadThe image of me will always make me glad. But
there is a downside to the mirrorMy reflection
can be something that I may fearIf my image or

I look at my reflection in the mirror. Who do I
see? I see a person with big dreams. I see a
person who has no fear. I see a person who is
bright. I see a person who accepts when she is
not right. In your reflection, you must see Not
on the outside, but on the inside. You must look

must never hide. -Kaitlyn Glenn Grade 9

What is reflection but the ability to remember
the past? Why not reflect on the future and
things yet to come? Who can understand the
future? Yet who can seize that past? Like a
breath of wind throwing ripples across the pool
of memories of my yesterdays. Dreams, ambitions
and even memories can be altered. Charging
winds and waves daily disrupt the cool, clean
surface of my pool. Yet you must remember one of
the ever stable parts of this life. After night
comes morning. After rain comes sunshine. And
after waves come stillness. So for this reason I
urge you to hold on. The waves may be all around
you and the darkness may consume you. The thunder
and lightning may frighten you and the wind may
fog your judgment. But hold on. Eventually the
waves will calm and the darkness will make way
for soft rays of sunshine. The thunder and
lightning will fade and the waves will die
away. Wait for the glorious morning, the radiant
sunshine and the peaceful stillness. Reflect on
the future for that is where your true joy lies.

  • We reminisce about life itself with expansion of
    thoughts,
  • With people reflecting off one another to
    discover their meaning,
  • Representing ourselves, our lives, and our
    accomplishments,
  • Setting an example for mankind to follow,
  • Expressing how you feel in the best way possible,
  • Life is like a mirror,
  • Followed by all mankind,
  • Our lives are run by images and presentations of
    how one acts,
  • Zombie like people following ones present body
    image,
  • Forgotten past reflections of useless behavior
    examples,
  • We copy each other to fit in and be a mirror
    image of someone,
  • Be the person to make and start the image,
  • A rightful image nothing that could change you or
    anyone else for the worse
  • All and all reflect the way you run and take
    control of life.

Reflection a word with so many meanings so
clear, but yet so vague. Like looking into a
cloudy mirror Seeing yourself, but not seeing who
you truly are. Just an outward appearance Showing
no truth Like looking into a puddle on the
ground Seeing yourself, but only until the Sun
arrives As you reflect upon yourself, look not
only on the outside as it will change, But look
on the inside and you will find what truly
matters. Kimberly Ringhoffer

Deep down inside, a thrashing pain I see I
reflect upon the past about what he did to me We
talked, laughed, confessed a lot Until suddenly I
felt like I had been shot In the shadows, I saw
his feelings had changed He started saying things
that made me deranged My feelings were strong but
he didnt care My emotions showed hurt that made
my heart tear I saw the great hate in his eyes
that he had I knew it was because of me which me
really mad Dark suddenly shined over me instead
of light I prayed that we would get better
without a fight A part of me shows interest and
another hate But until things get better, I will
just have to wait My thoughts are still about him
no matter how hard I try They will never go away
and its hard to say goodbye -Kelsey Hadinger

Outside, the days change The sun breaks
through Skies of blue Replace rainclouds of

too late But their eyes cant hide promises
unkept Though they try to forget The past
remains An unspoken presence No one wants to

To the ordinary mind A mirror is just for
vanity But there is something to find Behind each
and every visage Whether its joyfulness or
rage Explore each pupil and it shows her fiery
determination Scale her jaws and find hidden
wisdom Read her lips and reveal her overwhelming
motivation Examine her eyebrows and unearth
confidence But look even deeper and you shall
discover difference But each iris will tell you
her hopes and dreams Her smile whispers to you of
her joy Her cheeks sing of her love that is
bursting out of its seams The tip of her nose
says of her vast sense of humor This reflection,
no habitual mind would ever discover Look, I

is her heart and soul For her intricate
reflection Is only seen by those of her
admiration. Taylor Weilnau Grade 11

Is the way that something looks, the way it feels
when it sees itself? When a human being looks at
itself in the mirror, does it think, Do I like
who I am?Or does it simply pick out its faults
and what is wrong with it?My reflection tells
me my expression, what I am wearing, and what I
Iook like.Is the person inside satisfied? Or is
it just another imperfect person?Tell me, does
it wear the perfect clothes? And is it what
everyone finds beautiful? When a swan looks at
its reflection in the water, does it even think
of its beauty? Its delicate neck, white feathers,
and fine features that have made it a symbol of
beautyOr does it just not care? It does not
think about superficiality, or what it looks
like.We are seduced by simple words that tell
us who we are and how we should look,When in
reality only we can decide who we are and who we
would like to beA reflection is how you see
yourself, how you view yourself, not anyone
else. You can fix yourself, but could you ever
fix your reflection?Annie ViteriGrade 10

The reflection in her eyes, Is everything I
need. The strength and will to carry on, The
power to succeed.
The reflection in those eyes, Can bring me to my
knees. The way it makes me feel inside, And she
does it with such ease!
Its now Ive found the one I love, The time has
come at last! For me to be forever happy, And it
all happened so fast.
The rollercoaster we call love, Has peaked with
this prize. Its her I need forevermore I see it
in her eyes.

  • Not every chance makes a change.
  • Not every motion moves a mountain.
  • Not every spoken word makes a sound.
  • Opportunities may only come around once.
  • And the past is intangible
  • Because everything you can touch from yesterday
  • Is now a mere piece of the present.
  • The past is only a reflection
  • A reflection of what could have been,

Tell Me What Do You See?
  • Look at your reflection
  • And tell me what you see
  • Do you see perfection
  • Or the person you wish to be
  • Or do you see your self trapped inside
  • Is that a mask you wear upon your face
  • Flaws, and lies the real you do you try and hide
  • Behind the mask is there nothing but disgrace
  • Take off your mask and tell me do you see
  • The person you wish to be
  • Its never too late to change

They Dont See What I See I see myself as a
fighter. I see myself as a free-thinker. I see
myself as a hardworking, intelligent young
woman. I see myself accomplishing anything I set
my mind to. I see myself having a bright
future. Others see me and others like me as
thugs. They see us as men in jail and women
having babies by different fathers. They see us
living in the projects off of the governments
money. They see us standing on the block selling
drugs. They see us in the news murdering others
day after day. They see us not making it in
life. They dont see what I see. I see a girl
determined to make it. I see a strong Black woman
ready to prove the world wrong. - Jade Letlow

What You SeeBy Lauren Fischer
  • Look at a reflection
  • What do you see?
  • A normal person
  • That might be,
  • But look at their eyes
  • And you can tell
  • That a reflection
  • Isnt always real.
  • A reflection of happiness,
  • But inside a breaking heart.
  • A reflection of contentment,
  • But pain and hurt is what they feel.
  • A reflection of perfection,
  • But person who hates them self.
  • Reflections are just objects you see
  • But a persons reflection is just picture
  • Inside the person has hopes and dreams,

In My Reflection By Melanie Surajbali In my
reflection I see a world of dreams There sits a
girl with many hopes and desires Her dreams tell
a story of an endless tale Her journey to be an
unforgettable individual to the world She stares
in the mirror to see a familiar face A face which
is hardworking A face which is beautiful A face
which is sad A face which suffered through pain A
face which suffered through hardships She gazes
as shes feeling confused She looks for answers
to her questions She looks for security She looks
for success She walks into the world with
confidence She feels as if her journey is about
to begin She suddenly smiles to herself She
feels nervous She feels ready She stares into a
mirror and hopes to reflect Accomplishments of
her dreams

When she lost touch with the world She found
someone to tell her secrets to. They had angel
eyes They made her perfect. Failure to fine
love, drove her to this Dark Angel When she
looked into it, All she saw was a face. The Dark
Angel took her under its wing Its hard for her
to keep her head up. The angel has taken her
essence. She keeps telling herself she is in
control, But she knows it has taken over. It
feels so satisfying, But she knows its
fallacious. The Dark Angel, who she thought was
her friend, Has watched her fall apart. She no
longer wants to be this mirror image. She has
finally realized that, sometimes you have to fall
in order to love yourself. Nirie Transue

Reflections of The PastBy Karissa Skibinski
  • Yesterday she looked into the mirror and saw a
    reflection of a girl
  • A girl she did not know.
  • This reflection was not her it couldnt be.
  • As she looked at the reflection she saw this
reflection pleased everyone, she said what they
    wanted to hear.
  • The reflection showed
  • That when she spoke the truth she was ridiculed,
    the reflection tried to belong.
  • As she kept staring she saw more, a reflection of
a girl crying at night because they laughed
because they tried to control, she lost herself.
  • As she kept looking she saw
  • The reflection of a lost girl
  • When she could no longer bear to see anymore she
    looked away
  • She realized the reflection was her , her past,
    the person she was becoming
  • She let them control, she let them make judgment
and tears run from her eyes
  • The reflection lost herself to belong to a world
    of hate and hurt
  • A reflection of a lost girl is what she saw
  • Reflections of lost souls is who they were
  • She looked back at the mirror, HER reflection,
    She saw it all.
  • She looked at the reflection and decided to strip
away all that bound her to them, she would let
them know she no longer belonged to them, she
would not be a reflection of a lost girl
  • But a reflection of who she was.

Friends are the Reflections of who You Are I see
you, you see me You stare right back and look at
me, I move to the left, and you do the same, You
move right, and I do the same, The only sight we
see is each other, We see each other wherever, We
see each other whenever, In a windows glass, In
a puddle near the grass, In each others
eyes, And in the mirror small in size. I am just
like you, And you are just like me. Because all
we see are you and me. I look at you and begin to
see, My friends are the mirror, Of who I can
be, My friends are the mirror of The real true
me, Sarah Sonday

  • Floating all around me
  • In glass, in water, in others eyes
  • Up. Down. Left. Right.
  • Im all that I can see.
  • Why cant I ignore myself?
  • I should focus on the others.
  • Reflections are pompous,
  • Narcissistic bits
  • Thinking of no one but me.

  • Still my thoughts

Who am I? Says the girl from deep inside As the
words on her tongue she did swallow And she draws
her wounded paw From and age-old gilded
law, Shes hurt, much like the others who do
follow. What did I do? Says the small child
who Cant have the toy thats being advertised As
the parents wipe their tears They hope the past
few years Have only been a blessing in
disguise Why am I here? Says the patient without
fear. Hes accepted the fact he wont have
long And the doctors and the kin Like the sea
came pouring in Only to discover he is gone When
will it end? Says the jailbird to his friend As
his calls and pleas are muffled through a rag And
the torture will begin Despite his
innocence. Hell be here for three lifetimes, or
so he brags. Will the questions ever cease? Will
two ends ever meet? Will man ever be
free? Unlikely. Tony Abraham

A glass once shattered upon the ground Lies
broken, perfection lost to disarray. So for many,
hopes dashed in life abound As suffering yields
irreparable dismay. And peering through the
fragments magnifies The black earth beneath,
which hope belies, And sharp edges inciting
bitter wrongs to defend, To tear and fester, to
slash attempts for amend. Yet gazing down from
above, in sunshine or starry nights, Find
mirrored in pieces far below a million twinkling
lights, Who proclaim the truth reflected despite
the darkest sky There is more to life than eye
for eye, Meaning beyond when final breaths die.

plus themselves like how people look at other
people then talk bout them or some people make
