• Designing and implementing ICT4D policies and
  strategies require proper knowledge about the
  state of ICT in a country their use within the
  economy and society
• Suitable indicators are also needed to

• Evaluate information society development
  (penetration, deployment use) in a country
• Assist planners and investors to assess needs and
  investments

• In the framework of the developmental challenges
  of African countries in order to accelerate their
  socio-economic development process through the
  development, deployment and exploitation of ICTs
• ICT as a facilitator of the development process
  to transform the socio-economic outcomes of
  households, businesses and impact on government
  operations
