Risk Assessment

• Assess who is at risk
• Assess the work carried out
• - Machinery used
• - Vibration Magnitude of machinery used
• - Time spent using the equipment
• Assess what their exposure is

Eliminate, Reduce, Control

• Can work be eliminated
• - e.g. can work be done by a pecker on a
  machine
• Can exposure be reduced
• - e.g. workload shared on a breaker
• Where exposure can not be reduced or eliminated
  it must be controlled.

How to control

• Must reduce vibration to a minimum
• If exposure regularly exceeds 2.5 m/s2 - 100
  Points
• Must have health surveillance in place
• Exposure must never exceed 5.0 m/s2 - 400 Points
