Retirement Points for NAIP duties
  • This is NOT like a normal peacetime contributory
    drill.
  • BGO Reservists are NOT authorized to earn points
    for NAIP duties UNTIL..
  • Submission Approval of Authorization Request
  • ADDU orders issued.

Initial Eligibility
  • Designated NAIA

    obtained) by CGO or HUB representative
  • Within 1 year of designated NAIA (then every 5
    yrs)

Authorization Requirements
  • Authorization to Earn Retirement Points for NAIP
    Duties Letter
  • AND
  • Additional Duty Orders (USN in paid billet or
    VTU)
  • or
  • Appropriate Duty Orders (USMCR in paid unit of
    IRR)

Authorization Process (USNR-drilling)
  • Navy (in a paid billet or VTU (drilling IRR)
  • Submit NAIP Authorization Req Form (USNA-GRE
    1531/82) to USNA via your AC.
  • Once approved, must provide copy of authorization
    letter and NAVRES 1301/5 to their order writing
    authority (usually REDCOM/NAR) and receive orders
    assigning the reservist additional duty to USNA.
  • (Fax me current orders to expedite 1301 to NRA)
  • Reservists are to ensure copies of these orders
    are provided to the USNA Reserve Coordinator and
    their AC.

Authorization Process (USNR-nondrilling)
  • Submit NAIP Authorization Req Form (USNA-GRE
    1531/82) to USNA via your AC.
  • Navy (in the IRR (Active Status Pool)) may start
    earning retirement points once they provide a
    copy of their retirement point authorization
    letter to Naval Reserve Personnel Center, New
    Orleans, LA
  • Navy (in the Inactive Standby Reservists (S2
    status)) are not authorized to earn retirement
    points (transfer from S2 requires approval from
    PERS 911)

Authorization Process (USMCR)
  • Marine Corps Reservists may start earning
    drill/retirement points once they
  • Receive authorization letter from USNA
  • Submit their signed Request for Reserve Active
    Duty Orders (NAMC 11350) for appropriate duty
    orders to
  • For IRR/IMA Marine Corps Reserve Support Center,
    Kansas City, MO
  • For SMCR appropriate Inspector Instructor Staff
    (INIS)
  • Receive appropriate duty orders

Retirement Points (USNR)
  • Points for NAIP duties are IN ADDITION to Monthly
    SELRES/VTU drills!!!!
  • Every three hours of BGO activity counts for one
    retirement point (incremental accrual 15 min
    today, 1 hour tomorrow, 45 minutes on Saturday
    3 hours1 point)
  • Report monthly NAIP activities using the
    Retirement Credits Report (USNA GRE 1800/82)
    located in 1531.46) to their AC for certification
    before submission to NRA/NRPC for retirement
    credit.
  • Reserve ACs submit their Credits Report to RD for
    certification

  • Must submit to MCRSC the Equivalent Instruction
  • Report (NAVMC 799) signed by their AC/Reserve
  • Coordinator for drill credit.
  • (may use USNA- GRE-1800/82 as a tracking form)

Retirement points for BGO Training
  • Per OPNAV 1531.2B, the ONLY way to earn points
    for the Training at USNA
  • Active Duty AT/ADT (no-cost)
  • USNA-GRE 1800/82 is NOT authorized
  • No you cant count 2 points (drills) per day

  • Continuation as NAIO based on successful
    participation/motivation
  • Number of high schools assigned
  • Number of presentations given
  • 100 completed interviews
  • Professional representative of USNA and military
    service
  • Evaluations/recommendations based on AC and CGO
    input
  • Current ADDU/Appropriate Duty Orders
  • Keep CGO informed of any changes in reserve
    status (change of unit, retirement, discharge,
    etc.)
  • Comply with All Reserve NAIP Requirements

FITREPS (USNR)
  • Drilling Reservists Provide input to Regular
    reporting senior for inclusion in periodic
    fitrep.
  • ACs may verify NAIP duties performed if required
    by reporting senior
  • Members of the nondrilling IRR (ASP) do not
    receive periodic FITREPs.
  • A FITREP must be issued by gaining command upon
    completion of any 10-90 day AT/ADT/ADSW per
    BUPERSINST 1610.10

FITREPS (USMCR)
  • Marine Corps Reservists
  • Members of the SMCR/IMA may provide information
    regarding their NAIP duties directly to their
    regular reporting senior for inclusion in their
    periodic FITREP
  • Members of the IRR do not receive periodic
    FITREPs. A regular FITREP must be issued by the
    gaining command upon completion of any active
    duty period exceeding 30 continuous days per MCO
    P1610.7E
