How do I participate? 1. Convey your interest to
participate with your Unit/NOSC chain of
command. 2. With your chain of command, determin
e the available dates and type of orders to be
initiated (IDTT/ADT/AT). 3. Contact the CNSL Eve
nt Coordinator listed on the brochure to make a
reservation. 4. Once approved, coordinate with Ch
ain of Command and Event Coordinator for travel
and logistic assistance and confirmation.

What is Waterfront Weekend? Waterfront Weekend (W
FW) is an initiative under the direction of
Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic
(COMNAVSURFLANT) that provides Sailorization
and shipboard familiarization and training to
non-prior Navy service officers and sailors.
Who is eligible? Any Navy officer or sailor who
has not had prior active duty Fleet experience.
What does it entail? This two and a half day ev
ent is conducted in port at Naval Station
Norfolk, VA from Friday to Sunday. All
participants are expected to muster/train/eat/bert
h onboard the host ship during that time. This is
necessary in order to maximize the time
participants can immerse themselves in shipboard
life and procedures, while providing maximum
ships crew interaction.
What can I expect? During your time onboard, the
crew of the host ship will provide ship tours and
training. The daily schedule is intense and is
designed to expose participants to shipboard life
to the greatest degree possible.
Participants can expect to receive tours of all
major spaces and receive on-site instruction on
key Deck, Command and Control, Engineering, and
Weapon Sensor systems. Additionally,
participants are introduced/trained on the
following .

training onboard USS NASSAU in May 2007
Event Coordinator NR CNSL Det 606 works with COMN
AVSURFLANT, Ships and Reserve Readiness Regions
to coordinate these events and provide escort
personnel for training and logistics support. .
