Our Motivation

• The year 1985 was momentous for Winfrey. Her talk
  show was renamed The Oprah Winfrey Show, and
  Jacobs negotiated a national syndication deal
  with the owners of syndication company King
  World, Mike and Roger King, two persuasive
  salesmen who quickly sold the show to 138
  stations in the United States. Jacobs got Winfrey
  25 percent of the gross King World made from the
  show, and from a salary of 230,000 per year at
  WLS-TV, Winfrey's income leaped to over 30
  million for her first year in syndication.
