About Me

• Throughout this semester of English 101, we
  have composed many essays. I found that the Cult
  of Thinness essay was probably the easiest. It
  made me realize that there are actually more
  people out in the world who have an eating
  disorder than what I thought.

What is thinness?

• Thinness can mean several things.
• Relatively small dimension through an object
  opposed to the length or width.
• The property of having little body fat.
• The property of being very thin or narrow.
• Lacking denseness

Eating Disorders

• Eating disorders can become a fad just like every
  other fad in the world.
• The thinness and eating disorders are extremely
  harmful, unlike many other fads people have.

First Stage of Process

• The first stage of process is how eating
  disorders start out by the social surroundings
  that the man or woman live in.

Second Stage of Process

• The second stage of process is watching our
  weight and how we eat.
• If we watched what we ate, we wouldnt have to
  construct an eating disorder.
• You are what you eat, even though sometimes we
  might not eat properly.

Third Stage of Process

• The third stage of process is celebrities with
  eating disorders.
• The celebrities with eating disorders have a huge
  impact on teenagers especially .

Celebrities who have or had eating disorders

• Some celebrities who have or had eating disorders
  or had a thinness problem are Paula Abdul, Elton
  John, Fiona Apple, Geri Hallowell and Crown
  Princess Victoria of Sweden.

Paula Abdul

• Paula Abdul developed bulimia nervosa in 1994.
  She decided to check herself into a clinic and
  has been in recovery ever since (Celebrities
  with eating disorders).

Elton John

• Elton John also battled with bulimia nervosa. It
  lasted for fourteen long years from 1984 to 1990
  (Celebrities with eating disorders).

Fiona Apple

• Fiona Apple was raped outside her apartment at
  the age of twelve.
• Paranoia set in after she got raped and developed
  an eating disorder in the end.
• Fiona is frustrated with the misunderstanding of
  her eating disorder.
• Being depressed caused her to develop bulimia
  nervosa (Celebrities with eating disorders).

Geri Halliwell

• Geri Halliwell developed bulimia nervosa and also
  binge eating.
• She has been suffering from bulimia for many
  years now.
• A three-day binge eating disorder made her seek
  help (Celebrities with eating disorders).

Crown Princess Victoria

• Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden had rumors
  going around that she had an eating disorder.
• People were stunned by her shocking thinness and
  worried (Celebrities with eating disorders).
• Shortly after the rumors started, Royal family
  members representative made the public
  announcement about her having an eating disorder
  (Celebrities with eating disorders).

The last stage of process Who does thinness and
eating disorders affect more?

• Eating disorders and thinness are getting to
  become more and more popular in young men and
  boys.
• This is because the jobs demand the thinness and
  lower body weight.
• With the jobs demanding more and thinner guys,
  the more guys are going to start binge eating or
  not eating at all.
