Am I the one to help someone in sin?Galatians
61-2
  • Spiritually qualified Am I growing? Do I care?
  • Emotionally qualified Am I self-controlled so
that I will be sensitive and gentle?
  • Relationally qualified Are we connected?
  • Does my position indicate I should get involved?
  • Am I responsible as the parent or leader?
  • Am I responsible as a close peer, family?
  • Does my relationship indicate I should get
    involved?
  • The closer I am relationally, the more certain it
is that I should be involved.
  • The closer I am relationally, the less serious
the sin issue needs to be for me to get involved.

3
Self-Deception and Self-Evaluation
  • Do I continually notice what others are doing
    wrong?
  • Do I usually think Im right about stuff?
  • Do I assume that my perspective of holiness is
right on and doesnt need adjusting?
  • Do I think that Ive kind of arrived at an
    acceptable level of spiritual maturity?
  • Do I think that my failures of the flesh arent
    all that bad?
  • Do I judge myself by my good intentions but
    others by their actions?

4
Self-Evaluation Gods Evaluation
  • (1 Corinthians 43-5) I care very little if I am
judged by you or by any human court indeed, I do
not even judge myself. 4 My conscience is
clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is
the Lord who judges me. 5 Therefore judge
nothing before the appointed time wait till the
Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden
in darkness and will expose the motives of men's
hearts. At that time each will receive his praise
    from God.

5
The Maturity of a Spiritual Helper
  • Pride Because I help others, I must be pretty
    great spiritually.
  • Self-Exam As I help others I will
constantly evaluate myself, and not compare
    myself to others.
  • Apathy I dont care enough to get involved
helping someone else in their struggle with sin.
