  • American FactFinder Checklist
  • Can I find the data I am looking for in
Population Finder, Fact Sheet, People, or
    Housing?
  • If not, go to Detailed Tables.
  • Which Census or Survey do you wish to work with?
That is, do you want your data to come from the
American Community Survey, the 1990 Decennial
Census, 2000 Decennial Census, or the Estimates
    program?
  • If from a Decennial Census, which Summary File do
you want to work with? Short Form (Summary Files
1 and 2) or Long Form (Summary Files 3 and 4)?
  • Do you prefer the information displayed as a
    table or a map?
  • If table, what type? For example, Detailed table,
Geographic Comparison Table, Quick Table, etc.
  • Tips
  • Data results (either Tables or Thematic Maps)from
FactFinder can be saved in three ways. (1) As a
file. (2) As a bookmark. (3) The web address can
be saved (and emailed if desired).
  • Summary Files 2 and 4 focus mainly on iterating
    tables based on race.
  • Summary Files 3 and 4 specialize in variety of
    cross-tabulations. They contain some basic
    iterations of basic race.
