  • The following is a slide show of some of the
birds that have come to us since June of 2002.
  • Most of them have already been adopted. Even
though it does not say so on every picture.
  • You will need to contact us to see what we have
available at the time that you are thinking of
    adopting.
  • Please avail yourself to the many web pages on
the internet, to do as much research as possible.

  • Quality of Life through Education,
  • Rescue, Rehabilitation and Adoption
  • Our objective in starting N-COAR is to improve
the quality of life that the companion bird will
have. We hope to achieve this thru
  • Education, Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Adoption.
  • Education We hope to teach individuals to
understand their birds, to make informed
decisions on the purchase of a companion bird,
and to learn as much as they can about their
birds (diet, habitat in the wild, how to train,
    and grooming).
  • Rescue We will provide a safe home for any bird
that has to be given up by it's owner. We are
also keeping a close watch on our local pet
stores and offering advice on care of their birds
    if needed.
  • Rehabilitation We will work with any
companion bird and owner to retrain and to
eliminate any bad habits that the bird has. If we
can not help the bird and owner we will direct
the owner to someone who can.
  • Adoption We will find new and permanent homes
for birds given up by their owners.

  • This is Lorenzo. He is a Blue Front Amazon He was
two years old when he came to us from the Marion
County Humane Society, in June of 2002.
  • He had already been in 3 homes at the age of two.
  • He is responsible for our starting our
organization. He will be with us forever as he is
my bird and he owns me.

5
North Central Ohio
Avian Rescue
  • This is Joey, he is a Moluccan Cockatoo.
  • He came to us in 2003 from his fourth home. Four
    homes in four years.
  • He was given up the last time because his
    screaming is too much.
  • He is a very intelligent bird and can entertain
himself for hours at a time

6
North Central Ohio Avian Rescue
  • This is Livingston, he is a Double Headed Amazon.
  • He was in his third home at the time we got him
    in 2004.
  • His second owner had passed away and the lady
that took him in temporarily, lived in an
apartment and could not keep him.
  • He is now 15 years old.

  • This Jasper, he too is a Moluccan Cockatoo.
  • He had already been in 3 homes by the age of
    four.
  • He is a self mutilator and will have to wear a
collar the rest of his life.
  • Other than that he is a very loving guy.

North Central Ohio
Avian Rescue
  • This is Shaka, she is a Timneh African Grey.
  • She was ten when we got her and had been in three
    homes.
  • Her first owner could not keep her due to
    sickness.
  • The second home was a breeding situation and she
    did not work out there.
  • In her 3rd home she had become a biter and the
owner could not deal with it.
  • We tried to help him, but in the end he decided
it was better to re-home her.

North Central Ohio
Avian Rescue
  • This is Chrissie. She is 4 ½ years old, and a
    Blue and Gold Macaw.
  • She had only had one home in those years and was
given up because their life style had changed and
they did not feel they could give her the time
    she deserved.

  • This is Joon, she was 1 of 3 Quakers that we got
    in at the same time.
  • Their owner was moving to Georgia and could not
take them with her. Stanley and Benny have found
good family homes in our area and are doing fine.
  • Joon is so adorable and somewhat of a special
needs bird. So we decided to make her part of our
    family.

North Central Ohio
Avian Rescue
  • This is Chloe she is another Moluccan Cockatoo.
  • She was approximately 7 months old and was given
up because the ladies son had developed
allergies, and they could not keep her.
  • We found her a good home in the Dayton Ohio area
and get updates on her progress from time to time

  • This is George, he too came from the Marion
    County Humane society.
  • We know very little about him other than, the
last 3 years of his life before we got him were
spent in the back room of a local vet.
  • We sent him on to Knapptime as we felt that they
had more experience than we did at the time.
  • They found him a nice home where he is accepted
for who he is and he has started to interact with
the family and is getting in chest feathers.

  • I just had to put this one in. This is one of the
most expensive birds in the world.
  • She is a Hyacinth Macaw. She belongs to the
Columbus Zoo and is used in their educational
    programs.
  • I must stress she is not part of our organization
    I just like the picture.

  • In closing I would like to say that we do not
    ship birds.
  • If you want to adopt, you must come to us.
  • You must fulfill the adoption criteria that we
    set forth.
  • We will make the final decision on whether to
    adopt to you or not.
  • I hope that you liked the slide show and will
consider opening your home to a second hand bird.
  • If not from us from another rescue in your area.
