Choose your own sea adventure

It is such a nice day in the Atlantic Ocean that
your entire family has decided to take a swim
through the beautiful sea grass beds. Everyone is
captivated by the beautiful scenery. As you swim
out to get a closer look at what may be hiding in
the kelp, you realize it has become eerily quiet.
Scared, you around to swim to your family and you
see nothing but the open sea! Your family has
left, and there is no sign of them anywhere.
You know that your family was swimming in one
direction and it wasnt East or West. You come to
the conclusion that it is better to try and catch
up to your family than stay where you are. Make a
decision of swimming north to the colorful coral
reef or South in the shallow waters to find your
family.

As you arrive in the coral reef it becomes
apparent that you must have made the right
choice! Looking around, you think who wouldnt
come in this direction? It is absolutely gorgeous
here in the reef! You start to swim faster,
confident that your family must have come this
way.

But as you swim around a large rock resting on
the coral, you see an eel. Mom has always warned
you that you can never trust a tricky eel no
matter how friendly he/she looks. You can either
talk to him to find out if he has seen your
family pass by. How could anyone not see a school
of fish especially if they are as brightly
colored as you? As you think hard about another
option, you come up with an idea to swim past the
eel. Reasoning through this idea, you know how
sneaky eels are and want nothing to do with
him. If you dont find your family soon, who
knows how long you will be stuck in the ocean by
yourself. You better choose now.

You start to approach the funny looking eel who
is minding his own business in the coral. Excuse
me, but I have lost my family did you see them
swim past this reef? you stutter the words out
of your mouth and patiently wait for an
answer. The eel turns around slowly, slithering
through the water, coming close to you. As he
opens his mouth to speak you take notice of his
small but very sharp teeth on his bottom jaw.
Yess, he speaks slowly, Ive seen your colors
swim past here before. Anyone a mile away could
have heard them talking about going to the East
Australian Current. They swam past the second
boulder, and if I am not mistaken, they looked
like you. Past the boulder, it will only lead you
to the EAC, replied the eel. Without thinking
twice you decide to swim away from the eel and
stay near the pretty scenery where your family
must be swimming or you take the eels advice and
swim past the boulder.

You decided to take your moms advice to stay on
the safe side and swim past the eel. As you speed
past the eel, the adrenaline is pumping through
your fins to help you get out of there as quick
as possible. But just as you pass the eel, he
catches a glimpse of your beautiful shinny scales
reflecting the sunrays. He whips you with the end
of his tail and you are knocked against the
beautiful coral although it is beautiful, it is
worthless now and cannot help you. The eel is
heading straight for you with his mouth
open! The next thing you know, the eel has its
teeth deep in your body. Nice try, hopefully
your family will avoid mothers advice and live
on the so-called dangerous side.

Not taking the advice of an old eel that has been
around longer than you can comprehend can leave
you in some dangerous situations. You should have
thought longer about that last decision. The eel
probably knows this area in the coral better than
anyone. As you continue swimming farther out,
the water gets colder. If you thought about your
decision earlier, you would think about the
animals that survive in the cooler waters. Larger
animals like whales and sharks live in this
territory. But you didnt think before you made
the decision, and you are so oblivious of the
dangers that lie ahead that you dont even see
the shark coming straight for you.

You start to swim past the boulder and notice
that the waters are getting rough. Since youre a
small fish you are used to being in calm steady
water and this is very hard for your little fins
to handle. But you continue on, heading to the
East Australian Current. Suddenly, the current
picks up and is ten times faster than before! You
have made it to the EAC! You can try to swim out
of the current, but that is impossible for you to
do. You will just have to ride out the current
until it slows down. Theres no telling how long
it will take.

Youve are traveling very fast in the East
Australian Current. It seems scary at first, but
things are getting better as you see a family of
turtles ahead in the current! As soon as you
reach them, the current has slowed down and
ended. Hey there! What are you up to all by
yourself? asks one of the baby sea
turtles. Well, Im just trying to find my
family. You would not believe what I have been
through, you reply. An adult sea turtle
overhears you talking about your adventure and
explains that there are two drop offs that you
can go to where a lot of fish go. They are
really similar, but its your choice, which one
you want to go to, the adult explains.

You have chosen drop off point number one. This
is the wealthy part of the ocean. What lies ahead
helps describe the living standards here. As you
swim ahead, you see a castle! Desperate for
guidance to find your family, you can sneak
inside and see if there will be anyone inside to
help you. Beware, you have never been in this
part of the ocean and although the castle looks
gorgeous, you dont know what it holds inside.
The other option would be to make your way
around the castle and try to avoid talking to
anyone.

As you slowly enter the beautiful pearly white
castle, you decide to go up stairs since no one
is to be seen on the first floor. Going up the
stairs, you hear someone singing the most
beautiful tune you have ever heard. Curious, you
open a door which opens up and allows you to see
a seahorse! She spots you, but is not upset. Why
hello. How did you get in here? she politely
asks. I just swam, you reply in awe. Oh, I
see. Hey, would you like to know a secret? She
asks with a smile on her face. You can either
let her tell you the secret, or just ignore the
question. Keep in mind that you do not know
anything about this seahorse, she is a complete
stranger.

Yes, I want to know a secret! you anxiously
answer as you creep closer to the
seahorse. Well, I am a magical princess. But
you must not tell anyone. No one knows except for
you, my family and the guards around my castle,
she admits. Oh, I promise, I will not tell
anyone. May I ask how come you are kept up here
by yourself? you curiously ask. I am kept up
here because I am able to grant wishes to sea
creatures like you! But only one wish per animal.

by me. She encourages you to wish for something.

You have just decided to ignore a seahorse
princess! That is a mistake. Clearing her
throat, she asks again, I asked, do you want to
know my secret? I am really not interested,
you try to explain. Excuse me? You are not
interested in me and my secrets? Oh, you asked
for it. Robert! yells the seahorse. Confused
and worried, you start to swim backwards and bump
into the seahorses mirror, which breaks. That
only makes her angrier! Robert! On the double!
she shouts. Please Ms. Seahorse, I dont mean
you any harm. Please dont hurt me, you plea.
You hear something coming rushing up to the top
of the castle towards her

Instantly, a swordfish is rushing up to her room
in the castle and pokes you in the side. Come
with me or else, insists the swordfish. You
are taken down the stairs of the castle. Who do
you think you are? Entering a private castle is
strictly against sea laws! the swordfish yells
and waits for an answer impatiently. Well, I
thought it may be faster to go through the castle
than going around, you make up an
excuse. Thats strange, you think it may be
faster, and yet you go upstairs? He looks at you
knowing that you are lying.

Listen up punk, I dont know who you are or what
you think you might be able to pull off. But its
not going to happen while Im here, he points
his nose at you in a threatening gesture. Okay,
youre right. I shouldnt have gone up the
stairs. But the seahorse started talking to me
first! you try to get yourself out of
trouble. But the swordfish is not going to
budge. He must go by the orders of the seahorse,
who is extremely upset at the moment. He pushes
you with the tip of his nose and demands that
you, Get outta here and dont you come back. We
dont like liars in this part of the ocean!

Okay, you seem like a wise fish, will you tell
me what you have been up to today? she
asks. This entire morning I have been searching
for my family, who I care so much about. I have
traveled a long way! I even went on the East
Australian Current. Now, I am here, you answer
nicely. What brought you inside the castle?
she asks. Your castle is very beautiful and I
was curious to see what it looks like inside,
you answer. Well, it seems like you care about
your family a lot to travel this far. But you
also enjoy riches. I will give you the option of
finding your family or all of the riches in the
world, she leaves it up for you to decide.

You have chosen to see your family! What a good
but hard decision. The seahorse takes out a magic
wand from her purse and taps your shoulder five
times. Close your eyes, she says sweetly. As
you close your eyes, she sprinkles a sweet
smelling powder over you and you start to feel
dizzy. Then you notice that she holding your
fins, and spinning. Do not open your eyes until
you finish counting to ten, she instructs you.

After you open your eyes, you find yourself in
the middle of your family swimming home! Happy to
see them, you shout out, Oh Family! I have
missed you so much! Everyone turns around to
see your excited face. Smiling they all hug
you. What a big day! Congratulations on making it
home safely. Now save your breath, you have a lot
of story telling to do for you family.

You end up at a drop off that is very quiet. As
you look around for any sign of life, you swim
lower to the sea floor. Then, you spot something
moving under the sand right in front of you. As
you get closer, you see the animal come out from
under the sand and swim up! It is a stingray!
You are nervous, but continue swimming forward.
But the stingray swims up right in your face!
Trying to move out of his way, you swim to the
left. But the stingray moves to the left at the
same time! What is he doing?

Excuse me, but will you please let me pass? you
politely ask the stingray. I propose a
challenge the stingray begins to explain. But
you are deeply worried and try to move around the
stingray once again. But he continuously moves in
your way. A challenge, its more like a game.
Do you want to play? he asks. Mister Stingray,
I dont understand what you are asking, you say
trying to get him to explain what he is saying.
Just then, three more stingrays come next to the
first stingray. We are proposing a challenge
young one. You can choose to accept our proposal,
or declineWe suggest you play. answer the three
new stingrays.

You have chosen to decline the stingrays offer
to a challenge. You think that you can take the
easy way out. Well, if you had known anything
about stingrays, you would have accepted their
offer. They are easily angered. Although they
like to make others angry, if you make them
angry, you will pay for it. By not wanting to
play their game, you have made them furious! Four
angry stingrays will not be a pretty scene. Look
out, they are coming for you! But as you have
probably noticed, stingrays are fast! There is no
way you can out swim them. Their tails are
pointed at you and sting multiple times. RIP

Accepting the stingrays offer may be the best
decision you have made this entire time! Our
game is called Pick a Side. The rules of this
game are simple. I am only going to explain them
once, so listen up. You do not touch this silver
coin. All you do is pick a side. There are only
two sides to our coin, heads and tails. Do you
understand? ask the stingrays. Sounds simple
enough. But who flips the coin? you
ask. Thats our job, they reply. Thinking
back to your childhood, when you used to play
this game with your dad you remember him saying
tails never fails. But you cannot remember if
that saying is actually true. The time to make
your choice is now.

right! How could you forget your old mans wise
choices? You have won the stingrays game and
now, it is their turn to do something for
you! Okay, so now what do I get for winning
your game Pick a Side? you ask, patiently
waiting for an answer.

fails! You should have stuck with what was in the
back of your mind! Watch your tail now it
looks like the stingrays are coming after you!
But it doesnt look like you have a chance here.

able to pass the first stingray, you will not
able to pass four different stingrays. RIP

Well, I have been searching for my family this
entire morning! I would appreciate a ride to find
them, you explain to them. Ah, we see. Well,
One of us can take you to find your family, they
reply. Fish of your kind are usually found about
ten miles from here if we go the smooth trail.
But we can cut it down to five miles if we go on
the bumpy trail. The decision is up to you. How
soon do you want to find your family after
searching for them all day long?

You have chosen the bumpy trail. Look out! Five
miles may seem like a good choice. But as you
hold onto the stingray and start out on the bumpy
trail, you instantly regret your choice! Would
you mind going a little slower, you ask the
stingray. How slow do you want me to go? Im
going the speed limit in this area. He
replies. As you continue on, your stomach starts
to turn. It looks like you have some bad signs of
sea sickness. This bumpy road is too much for
you. Too bad for the stingray who is too
concentrated on not getting caught in traffic, he
wont noticed you passed away until he stops to
take a rest. RIP

You have chosen the greed over family! You would
rather have all the riches in the world than to
be with your family. The decision is yours, but
the consequences are something you have no
control over. As the seahorse grants your wish,
she pulls out her magic wand, taps your nose once
and sprinkles sparkly dust over you. Close your
eyes and wait three seconds, she instructs
you. As you wait, you are trembling with
excitement about what treasures await for you.

When you open your eyes, you have found beautiful
treasures surrounding you! But as you reach out
grab the beautiful pieces of gold, you notice
that your fins have aged. You have wrinkly scales
that are no longer as shiny as they once
were. Digging through your new treasure, you
find a mirror and hold it up to look at yourself!
When you look at your reflection you hardly
recognize yourself! You look just like your great
grandparents! Although you have all the riches
in the world, it has taken years off of your
life. You will live the rest of your now
shortened life with beautiful treasure, but will
have no one to love or care for you. You will die
unhappy.

You continue swimming you and start to get closer
to the ocean floor. There is nothing familiar
down here. The water is getting shallow as you
are swimming south. Soon, the ocean floor
changes from seaweed to sand and next to the
sand, it looks as though there is a rocky path.
It is hard to say what may be hiding beneath the
rocks, but youll have to choose between the
rocky path and the sandy path. The sandy path
might be the safer option because you can see
what lies ahead unlike the rocky path that is
cluttered with large boulders where any animal is
capable of making its home.

The sandy path is very calm and peaceful. You are
happy with your choice, since it has led you into
a bay. As you look out in a distance, you see
something on the surface of the water! It is a
ship with an anchor touching the very bottom of
the sea! It looks beautiful with its polished
bottom. As you look down at the anchor holding
the ship in place, you notice an abandoned ship.
It sure looks neat at the bottom of the ocean.
There may be some buried treasure near it!
Curious about what might be a sunken pirate ship
you remember the ship floating on the
surface! Take your pick, you can either swim up
to the floating ship or fulfill your curiosity
for treasure by swimming down to the sunken ship.

You have chosen to go to the sunken ship! Looking
around the spooky abandoned sunken ship, you see
old human utensils. Curious about the funny
looking objects, you start to swim to get a
closer look at them. Suddenly, it gets dark! It
is a shadow from something above you. This is
my house! Dont touch my treasure! a deep voice
hovering over you yells. Scared, you say in a
small voice, Im not going to take
anything. You look up at what is blocking the
sunlight. To your surprise, it is a large purple
octopus! But before you can turn to swim away,
one of his tentacles picks you up and throws you
out of the sunken ship!

You have decided to swim to the moving boats and
finally reach one of the boats. But suddenly, a
huge net is thrown overboard into the water. You
try to swim away from the boat, but you just get
caught in the net! As you are pulled aboard the
ship, you think about what to do! Finally, you
decide to either stay quiet, hoping that you
dont get hurt or you can scream for help from
anyone. But you are stuck in a net full of other
helpless fish. The chances of having another
fish save you are very unlikely

As you scream your heart out for someone to save
you, a seagull flying nearby hears your cry.
Although he can hear you, that doesnt mean that
he can see you. You start moving your fins to
hopefully get his attention. You have
succeeded! He sees you! Help me! Please drop
me back into the ocean! I cannot breathe! you
scream at the seagull. The seagull laughs at
you, You pathetic little fish, didnt your
mother ever tell you not to talk to
strangers? Now nervous, you try to squeeze your
way between the other fish to hide from the
seagull, who lands on the ship and waddles over
to you with his beak open. Youre bird bait now.

Trying not to be noticed, you stay quiet! The
fishermen are dumping all of the fish onto the
floor of the charter. They are analyzing all of
the fish on the boat, and good news the
fishermen are throwing some fish back into the
water! You are scared, but you try to stay calm
and stick to the plan, stay still. One fisherman
picks you up and chuckles to the other fishermen,
Whaddya think about this little fish? Cut out
that nonsense! Throw the little guy out, shouts
the captain. Out you go, back into the water. But
a strong current is carrying you off. A little
shrimp is right you cannot swim out of the
current. So you have to go with the flow.

Heading down to the rocks, you try to be quiet so
you might be able to hear your family talking.
There is no familiar voice to be heard. As you
continue on, you hear someone shout, Hey! Are
you missin your family eh? You look down at the
rocks below and notice a clan of crabs! Theyre
eyes are looking up at you swimming above. They
swam past here not too long ago! A whole bunch of
em did. They headed up to the river just left of
here. One of them said. There is no need to
thank them they are all occupied with the bugs
crawling on the rocks. You can either take the
distracted crabs advice or carry on by yourself.

You have chosen to go your own way, and youve
reached the river. It has a strong current and
is definitely different than the ocean. But it
looks fun so you start to head up the river when
you realize that the river splits. You can go
right, or left. They both equally look the same,
the right doesnt look scarier than the left, and
the left is just as wide as the right. You cant
see anything or anyone on the right side of the
river, and its just the same with the left.

As you continue swimming to the right, you end up
at a beaver dam! You have heard tales about this
creature before. They can be very vicious with
their two sharp front teeth. It is hard to
predict what they will do! But you know that
beavers do not live solitarily, they usually have
large families. Maybe they will understand if you
try to tell them youre quest. You come to the
conclusion that you can either turn around or you
can be brave and go into the dam to see where the
river takes you.

You built up a lot of courage to knock on the
door of the beavers dam. A chubby, motherly
looking beaver is at the door with concern on her
face. Oh honey, what is the matter? You look as
if you just saw a ghost. You explain to her
that you are looking for your family. We can
let you through our home they may have drifted
through the channel next door to us. If you come
through here, I am sure you will be able to catch
up to them, she says as she holds your fin and
guides you through her home

That wasnt that bad! Now, time to get down to
business. You look around frantically for your
family. As you continue to swim upstream, you
come upon what looks like four furry
legs! Fearful that the legs might belong to a
fishing grizzly bear, you can turn around. Just
like how you could have done that when you saw
the beaver dam, but you were brave and things
turned out okay. So, you can turn back and be a
wimp or you can swim between the legs and
continue your search for your family.

It would be wise to remember that you are only a
little fish. But its a little too late. Yes, the
furry legs belong to a hungry fishing bear and
you have just made yourself an easy meal!

The water is so clear that even a bird flying
above is able to see you swimming all by
yourself. She swoops down and catches you in her
beak! Gurgling water at the same time, she
begins to talk, So, where are you
heading? Well, I was looking for my family
what do you want? you ask a bit scared at the
same time. I saw you swimming in freshwater! I
think youre completely lost buddy. Trust me, you
will never find your family out here. Let me take
you back to the ocean, She insists. But you
dont have a choice anyway. She is now your pilot
and youre just a passenger for the ride back to
salty waters.

You have chosen to go left. It really doesnt
seem like the right would have been any better or
any worse. But all of the sudden you see these
strange orange things moving around in the water,
and it seems like they are attached to something
that is floating above the water. You get closer
and you realize that its ducks! Youve heard of
ducks before but youve never actually seen them.
You ask them for directions and they just tell
you to turn around. The river is no place for a
fish like you. So you turn around

You head back into the ocean. You are really
starting to miss your family now, so you need to
look where ever you can, even if it looks
dangerous or scary you need to find them. You
can either head up or head down. If you head up
its going to be more shallow and there are tons
of fish towards to surface of the ocean. Your
family may be up there. But it can get pretty
darn confusing up there with all those fish, and
its very easy to get lost. So you could head
down towards the bottom the ocean where its a
little darker, but definitely not as many fish.

So you decided to head lower toward the bottom of
the ocean because it was less crowded and you
might be able to find your family more easily.
But it starts to get darker and harder for you to
see. Why would your family be down here? Youve
decided that youre going to keep going for a
bit, because you havent seen anything dangerous,
but you also havent seen any fish at all. You
could keep heading down deeper and deeper, or you
could head back up to the top and just deal with
the crowds.

You decided to keep going deeper and deeper. Not
a good idea. Its completely dark now and you
cant see anything at all. You keep swimming but
youre getting scared. Finally you see what
looks like a light, so you swim over to it. All
of the sudden you see this huge, long, sharp
teeth appear out of no where. You try to swim
away, and you see another light. You swim over
to that and the same thing happens. These teeth
are coming towards you and you cant seem to swim
away fast enough. You get eaten

You keep swimming and swimming for what seems
like days and days, but finally you come upon a
grey object in front of you. It turns out to be
a dolphin. Youve heard stories that dolphins
are really friendly and like to help fishes you,
so you decide to start to talk to him. He
introduces himself and Speedo the dolphin. He
is super friendly and you tell him that you are
looking for your family. You tell him that you
got separated from them and youve been looking
really hard for them. He is more that willing to
help you out but first he asks you if you want to
come to his family reunion that is going on, he
can take you to find your family right away

Speedo is such a nice dolphin you decide to take
him up on meeting the rest of his family. You
grab onto his fin and off you go. You get there
in no time, and you cant believe how many
dolphins there are. You see at least 50 above
you, 20 below you and you cant even count how
many are to your right and left. They are all
laughing and catching up on old times, and
talking to you. Speedos mom offers you some
food, and youre not quite sure what it is.
Should you be polite and take the food I mean
you dont want to be rude youre their guest. Or
should you not take the food and just have Speedo
help you find your family.

Youre a guest and of course you dont want to be
rude and decline food that Speedos mom worked on
making. But you still have no idea what kind of
food it is, so you just close your eyes and
swallow it. After, youre having a great time
talking to everyone when someone mentions that
youre looking a bite pale. You start to get
really sick and nauseas so you ask Speedos mom
what kind of food that was. Fish, the best
kind around You cant believe you just ate fish,
what if that was one of your family members.
Speedos mom assures you that it wasnt but you
eventually get to sick to talk and die.

Smart decision you decide against talking the
food Speedos mom made because you remember that
even though all the dolphins are really friendly
they do still eat fish. You ask Speedo if he can
take you to find your family now. Sure, just
jump on my back and hold onto my fin You hop on
and hold on as tight as you can. BOOM you two
are off, Speedos going as fast as he possibly
can. Maybe hes going a little to fast, but you
are enjoying this. You dont have to swim
anymore and its really fun going that fast. You
can either ask him to speed up faster, or you can
as him to slow down a bit.

You ask Speedo to slow down a bit because you
dont want to get sea sick or anything. Speedo
doesnt mind but he slows way down, and it takes
you a lot longer to get to where you are going.
But the sites arent all that bad. You can see
different coral reefs, and tons of colorful fish,
but none that are your own family. You seem to
be upset about your parents, so Speedo starts
talking to you and making jokes so it doesnt
seem that long of a trip. I believe that we
are almost there, just a few more minutes and you
should be safe and sound with your family.

You finally see your family. And you can also
here them calling your name, they must have been
looking for you too. Speedo drops you off and of
course you thank him for everything that hes
done. Tell your family that I say hello
Speedo, and thanks! No problem anytime, and
dont be a stranger Speedo takes off. Your mom
swims up to you and gives you a huge hug along
with your dad and brothers and
sisters. Congratulations youre finally home.

You choose to go your own way, and you have now
ended up in the kelp fields. The kelp fields
seem to stretch for days and days, and theres no
telling what creatures are living or hiding in
them. But it is also hard to tell what dangers
may lay around the kelp fields. You have now
been presented with two different options. You
can either go around the kelp fields or you can
go through them. Be careful about your decision
and remember you dont know how long it will take
to go around or go through.

You have decided to brave the unknown and go
through the kelp fields. You have no idea what
lays in front of you, but it is a lot better than
going around the large kelp fields. Youre
swimming along and all of the sudden you faintly
see pink floating things in front of you. It is
to far away to tell what it actually is and the
kelps so thick, you decide to move closer. You
realize that its jelly fish!! You remember that
your uncle was stung by a jelly fish and your mom
always told you never to go near them. You can
either avoid the jelly fish and find another way
around, or you can talk to them and ask for
directions.

You have decided to go around the kelp fields and
take your chance to whatever may lie on the
outside of the fields. But unfortunately the
kelp fields are to big and wide to go around.
About three quarters of the way through, you
start to get very tired. Youre having
difficulties breathing and your fin muscles are
aching a lot. Youve been swimming for such a
long time now and it seems that youve reached
your breaking point. You can try to continue on

You decided to keep going because you thought
that you could make it the rest of the way. Even
though your fins were hurting and you were very
hungry you thought that you were almost to the
end so you might as well tough it out. Well you
were wrong. You got to tired and had to stop
swimming, and right as you did that a bigger fish
came up to you who was also very tired and very
hungry and tried to eat you and you were to tired
to swim away so the big fish ate you.

You decided to talk to the jelly fish. What were
you thinking? Your mom told you stories about
your uncle getting stung, and how he swelled up
to the size of a blow fish, and couldnt swim or
talk for days. But you decided not to listen to
your gut instincts and the jelly fish get mad
that youre in their territory so you get stung.
It hurts really badly and you can already see the
swelling start up. You need a doctor right away
and you swim out of the kelp fields in search of
one. The swelling is getting really bad and it
gets harder and harder for you to move your fins.
Finally you stubble upon a doctor, but it looks
like its too late. You died.
