• What policies and procedures are currently in
  place? What does a pregnant woman experience?

Prenatal Workgroup

• What does a pregnant woman encounter before she
  enters a hospital to deliver her baby?
• Access to prenatal medical care
• Parent education regarding substance effects
• Prenatal screening through maternal interviews
• Prenatal screening through toxicology tests
• Referrals for treatment/follow-up
• Ob-gyn/midwife well-trained in communicating
  with/counseling pregnant women re substance use
• How is the information gathered during her
  prenatal care transferred to the hospital where
  she delivers her baby?

Perinatal Workgroup

• What does a pregnant woman encounter when she
  comes to the hospital to deliver her baby?
• Transfer of prenatal information
• Will her doctors have access to any previous
  screening and medical information obtained during
  prenatal care? How is this information
  transferred?
• Screening Testing
• Existing policy re in-hospital testing of
  mothers and infants
• Types of screening tests, criteria for
  testing/screening, types of consent
• Notification/report to CPS
• If CPS is notified, what will the decision be
  based on? Who will make the report to CPS? What
  will happen next?
• What information will be transferred to CPS? How
  and by whom?

Postnatal Workgroup

• What do the mother and SEN encounter after the
  delivery?
• Pediatric follow-up for SEN?
• Supports/Services
• Will mom be offered community / treatment
  services?
• What supports / services exist for different
  caregivers (mothers and fathers, foster parents,
  extended family)?
• Transfer of information
• How is information for safe care of medically
  fragile infant communicated to caregiver(s)?
• Is it shared verbally or written in a plan? With
  whom is it shared?
