Please note that the following 3 slides show
just a few of our projects. For more information
on all of our work, visit our website at

United Way and RSVP/Volunteer Center partnered
with many local and state agencies and
individuals on the Lamoille County Firewood
Project, collecting, cutting, stacking and
distributing wood to local residents meeting the
income guidelines. This proactive project is a
wonderful example of how well the Lamoille County
community works together. The Governor liked our
program so much that hes adopting it for the
state, using our project as a model! 25
individuals and families received wood.
3What do we do besides raise money?
United Way of Lamoille County and the local
RSVP/The Volunteer Center coordinated church
volunteers from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to
assist us with a Ramp Building Project. Puffer
Church in Morrisville offered space for the group
to camp out and prepare their meals. By weeks
end, the group completed two ramps and an
interior doorway widening project with funding
from the Vermont Center for Independent Living,
the United Way of Lamoille County and the Agency
of Human Services.
We are part of the Lamoille Valley Housing
Homelessness Coalition which helps to bring more
affordable housing and transitional housing
options to our community. This year, our United
Way wrote two grants in relation to affordable
housing in Lamoille County.
4What do we do besides raise money?
Our 5th annual Community Food Drive collected 2.5
tons of food for our 4 local food shelves. We
were also able to start a small food shelf at the
Lamoille Family Center for their clients. This
is a joint venture of our United Way and the
United States Postal Service. Special thanks to
our local postal carriers for all their hard work!
We distributed 250 prescription discount card to
local non-profit agencies and pharmacies. These
cards allow for up to a 20 discount on
prescription drugs for those without insurance.
The United Ways of Vermont run 2-1-1, Vermonts
information and referral line. Calls have
increased considerably over the past several
years. The most recent update for the past 6
month period indicates that 158 calls were made
from Lamoille County, mostly for housing needs.
